Randwick and Moonee Valley host quality meetings this Saturday where the Christmas Classic at Randwick is the feature race of the day.
There’s some good value on offer across the board and we have picked out our best tips and value bets for Randwick and Moonee Valley on December 29.
Randwick free tips & form
Race 1. (13:05) 2019 Membership Handicap (1000m)
#12 – Yitai Synergy @ $2.40 – BET NOW
Peter and Paul Snowden line up the highly-anticipated Yitai Synergy, which has won both trials leading into this.
The filly by Dissident scored by 1.3 lengths at Wyong before winning by two lengths at Randwick. Her breeding suggests that she will only improve with time but the early markets suggest that she will be ready to fire here.
Drawing barrier two is ideal and carrying 55kg makes her worth a play.
Race 3. (14:15) Events By ATC BM88 (1400m)
#8 – Bondi @ $3 – BET NOW
Three-year-old colt Bondi has won only one race but he should have won more and he looms as a major winning threat here.
The Snowden’s line up the son of Snitzel which has been running behind the likes of Seabrook and El Dorado Dreaming, which is great form for this and 53.5kg will help his cause significantly.
$3 will likely firm.
Race 4. (15:55) Vale John Marshall BM76 (1400m)
#3 – Mister Songman @ $1.90 – BET NOW
Hasn’t won this time in but has gone close in two runs. The Waterhouse/Bott-trained four-year-old has finished within a length of the winner in both starts and his form prior in Tasmania was solid.
He has finished out of the money in only one of nine starts, which has included four wins and it’s about time he scored a win for his new trainers.
We’re not thrilled about the $1.90 but he is the best horse in the field.
Race 6. (16:15) Christmas Classic (1200m)
#1 – Alizee @ $2.25 – BET NOW
Alizee is a winner of almost $1.4 million and she’s the quality runner in this field, despite the distance being short of her best.
The Cummings-trained four-year-old has won and placed twice over 1200m and she has performed well at the trials to prepare for this. She won her most recent trial at Randwick and she deserves to be the well-fancied favourite for this.
Race 8. (17:35) Australian Turf Club BM78 (1200m)
#4 – Deprive @ $2.50 – BET NOW
Three-time winner from six starts which scored well at Randwick heading into this and has more upside than most.
A son of Denman, Deprive has steadily built up a nice career record and he has plenty more wins in store.
Hugh Bowman rides from barrier three and that makes him tough to beat.
Moonee Valley free tips and form
Race 1. (12:45) Punters Plate (1200m)
#1 – Yes Yes Yes – BET NOW
It was all Yes Yes Yes last time out at Flemington as the Darren Weir-trained colt cruised to a 1.5-length victory.
The son of Rubick has been well-backed in both runs to date and the same will likely apply for this run. He will have his supporters again and he has drawn to feature prominently here.
Race 3. (13:55) Summer Membership BM70 (1200m)
#9 – Sora – BET NOW
Lindsay Park lines up the three-year-old filly which did the job well at Moonee Valley last start and winning form on this track is good to have.
She scored by 2.3 lengths when carrying a light weight of 53kg and despite being up in weight to 56kg, senior rider Craig Williams takes over the riding duties and that’s only going to help her chances.
Should be at each way odds with bookmakers.
Race 5. (15:10) Dean & McPherson Catering BM70 (1600m)
#11 – Oceanex @ $3 – BET NOW
Booming winner last start when scoring by seven lengths at Geelong and she looks a type which could continue on with it now.
Trained by Mick Price, the three-year-old filly appreciated the rise in distance and although she drops back from 1700m to 1600m, she’ll still enjoy the mile.
Punters are getting better than the $1.50 offered last start and her odds should firm.
Race 6. (15:50) Events @ The Valley Handicap (2040m)
#5 – Al Galayel @ $2.45 – BET NOW
Scored a tough win at this track last start and he has always possessed the class to continue winning at this level.
The four-year-old gelding is a five-time winner and he showed his class when running second behind the well-performed Savacool at Flemington two back.
54.5kg on his back only makes him harder to beat.
Race 8. (17:10) Ladbrokes Odds Boost BM70 (1000m)
#6 – Miss Norway @ $3.90 – BET NOW
John Sadler lines up the four-year-old mare which has won four from nine starts and got the job done narrowly last time out.
She has been steadily building towards this and although she rises in weight from her most recent win, she stays in the same class and that should help.
$3.90 is a fair price.
