After a week off the scene, Moonee Valley night racing returns and there are some good value bets across the card.
Eight races are scheduled for the night meeting and we have free tips, form and odds for every race happening this Friday at The Valley.
Moonee Valley free tips & form
Race 1. (18:30) Opus Group Plate (1000m)
#8 – Oriental Lily @ $3.20 – BET NOW
Peter and Paul Snowden line up the two-year-old debutante which scored a trial win at Cranbourne to prepare for this.
The well-bred filly by Hinchinbrook gets a good barrier to jump from and given the success of the ownership group, we’re expecting this filly to hit the ground running.
$3.20 is a fair price and she could start much shorter on the night.
Race 2. (19:00) Dynamic Welding BM64 (1500m)
#2 – Declares War @ $3.70 – BET NOW
There was strong money for the Darren Weir-trained runner last start and he didn’t disappoint when delivering a win at Sandown.
The staying-bred son of Declaration of War finished over the top of his rivals on that occasion and given that Moonee Valley can be a swoopers track, that sets up well this Friday night.
The increase in distance to 1500m is only a positive and he should be going close in this grade.
Race 3. (19:30) MSC Signs Plate (1200m)
#11 – Goldifox @ $2.25 – BET NOW
Flemington form is going to stack up well here and that’s what Goldifox brings to the plate. The three-year-old filly finished second at Flemington two back and followed that up with another placing.
Both starts came behind the well-performed Good “N” Fast and her start prior was a second-place finish behind Anjana at Moonee Valley.
That’s red-hot form for this and she should get every chance from the barrier and at the weights.
Race 4. (20:00) Daemco BM64 (1600m)
#7 – Adina Rose @ $5.50 – BET NOW
Craig Williams rides well around The Valley and after back-to-back second placings at Mornington, he could get Adina Rose to go one better here.
The four-year-old mare gets the inside draw, which is ideal for the daughter of Ad Valorem and although most of her best form has come against inferior opposition, she’s not taking on an overly impressive field here.
Value with bookmakers.
Race 5. (20:30) Ladbrokes 55 Second Challenge (955m)
#9 – Ray’s Dream @ $3.30 – BET NOW
The recent form of Ray’s Dream doesn’t appear to be any good, but she has been running against some of the best age-group horses in Australia.
After making a good start to her career, which included a win and two placings from three starts, John McArdle lined her up against the likes of Multaja and Sunlight. She finished 9.2 lengths behind Sunlight in the Quezette Stakes but this is much easier.
She gets the inside draw and should rail and kick strongly.
Race 6. (21:00) Premiair BM70 (1200m)
#11 – Rox The Castle @ $4.40 – BET NOW
We’re surprised at the odds around Rox The Castle, which has two wins and a placing from four starts to date.
The Castledale gelding finished 2.5 lengths behind I Am Queen at Ballarat last start and the form out of that race looks good for this. Prior to that, he was a 2.8-length winner at both Geelong and Sale, having come over from New Zealand.
Craig Williams rides from the inside draw, which is a positive over this distance.
Race 7. (21:30) Ascend Sales Trophies BM70 (1200m)
#5 – Immaculate Secret @ $5.50 – BET NOW
Looking to go back-to-back is Immaculate Secret, which scored an easy 2.3-length win at Terang last time out.
The Corstens-trained mare by High Chaparral dropped back to the sprinting distance after running over the mile two back and although her breeding suggests she’ll enjoy longer distances, the 1200m is the go for this.
She has drawn well and bookmakers are offering solid each-way odds.
Race 8. (22:00) Coast To Coast BM70 (2040m)
#1 – Palazzo Vecchio @ $3.50 – BET NOW
Mick Price lines up the mare by Fastnet Rock, which finished a close third at this track last start and she could improve off that.
The two-win mare has always promised to rise through the grades and although her form has been inconsistent throughout her career, she deserves to be respected in this.
