08/12/18 – Saturday Horse Racing Tips for Packenham & Rosehill

It’s Pakenham Cup Day on Saturday and the standalone Victorian meeting will enjoy big betting fields and quality thoroughbreds.

Rosehill also boasts an impressive card and we have found our best bets across both meetings this Saturday.

Packenham free tips & form

Race 1. (12:55) John Duff & Co BM70 (1000m)

#5 – Star Fall @ $4.60 – BET NOW

Star Fall scored a good win two back at Ballarat when winning by 3.8 lengths and although beaten since at Flemington, that came against a much harder field.

The three-year-old ran 2.5 lengths behind Good “N” Fast and that form has stacked up well since. He also scored a one-length trial win in preparation for this and he should go well.

$4.60 is a great price in the opening race.

Race 2. (13:30) Hanson BM70 (1600m)

#4 – Casino Fourteen @ $3 – BET NOW

Casino Fourteen hasn’t raced since winning last month at Donald by 2.8 lengths but Darren Weir should have him ready to fire in this.

The well-related son of Casino Prince has had an interrupted career to date but the two-time winner from six starts has quality on his side and he should prove tough to get past.

Drawing wide shouldn’t be an issue over this distance.

Race 5. (15:20) Nasahi AAC BM78 (1000m)

#9 – Eurack @ $5.50 – BET NOW

That was a disappointing run at Flemington when running 14th behind Order of Command last start, but her form prior was stellar.

A five-year-old mare, Eurack won her first four starts in impressive fashion, which included a 4.3-length romp at Sandown at her second start.

If she has been able to recover from that effort, she looks a winning hope against an easier field.

Race 7. (16:40) Sportsbet Pakenham Cup (2500m)

#1 – Dal Harraild @ $2.65 – BET NOW

The imported stayer has yet to win from three starts in Australia but he has gone close against some quality types.

He finished eighth in the Caulfield Cup behind Yucatan before running second in the Bendigo Cup and second in the Sandown Classic. Those efforts all suggest that he’s good enough to win the Pakenham Cup against an easier field.

Drawn to receive an easy run from the inside barrier and he should go close.

Rosehill free tips and form

Race 1. (13:15) Roadwork Solutions Handicap (1200m)

#3 – Kiamichi @ $4.40 – BET NOW

We’re a little surprised at the market and expected Kiamichi to be better-supported after winning on debut.

Trained by James Cummings, the two-year-old filly scored by a neck at Rosehill and she showed a good turn-of-foot in doing so. That win should hold her in good stead for this and she rates better than the debutantes.

$4.40 is a better price than expected.

Race 2. (13:50) 2019 Membership BM76 (1400m)

#2 – Baller @ $2.90 – BET NOW

Three-year-old colt Baller has plenty of upside after winning two of his first three starts and he rebounded from defeat with distinction last start.

The Cummings-trained son of High Chaparral scored over 1250m at Randwick by 3.3 lengths and although tested over more ground when running fourth behind Royal Celebration two back, he should enjoy another run over more ground.

Tommy Berry is a good controller of pace in small fields and that factors into this.

Race 3. (14:25) Highway Handicap C3 (1400m)

#4 – Hemmerle @ $4.60 – BET NOW

Danny Williams has two runners in this race, including current favourite Chewbacca, but Hemmerle could be the better-valued runner.

The four-year-old gelding scored consecutive wins to kick off his career at Goulburn and Wagga before running against city-class opposition at Rosehill.

His best performance came when running second behind Radiant Choice and that’s much better than Highway Handicap quality.

Race 6. (16:20) Tab Rewards BM78 (1400m)

#7 – Deft @ $4 – BET NOW

The inside draw should work beautifully for the four-year-old mare, which didn’t have much luck in behind Seasons at Rosehill last start.

Trained by James Cummings, the three-time winner has only been out of the money in one of her eight career starts and there has already been a steady flow of money in the early markets.

This is a tough field but she represents value.

Race 9. (18:15) Australian Turf Club BM78 (1300m)

#6 – Lisdoonvarna @ $3.80 – BET NOW

The former Kiwi owns plenty of pace and although her form has tapered off a touch, she hasn’t been getting much luck in the run.

She’s best suited to a strong tempo and bad barrier draws have hindered her chances recently, but she gets barrier three for this and that’s a big bonus.

Bookmakers are offering a fair price for the talented mare.
