Doomben horse racing tips
Race 1. (11:43) Lexus Maiden (1110m)
#7 – Isotope @ $3.80 – Bet Now
Isotope is on debut after two pleasing trials. The Tony Gollan-trained filly won her first trial by 2.3 lengths before running second by a half-length.
She’s a daughter of Deep Field that could make a winning start to her career and punters should be getting each-way odds.
Race 2. (12:18) Tulloch House Maiden (1200m)
#12 – Musicmaker @ $2.45 – Bet Now
Musicmaker is looking to go one better after consecutive second placings. The three-year-old filly has shown good barrier speed to date, which should come into play here.
The daughter of All Too Hard couldn’t pick up the winner at Sunshine Coast, but conditions suit here and she could run a big race.
Race 3. (12:53) Darryl Gollan Tribute Handicap (1200m)
#5 – Minjee @ $4.20 – Bet Now
Minjee ran third on debut at odds of $1.29 and was then sent out as an $11 chance when winning last start.
The Heathcote-trained filly made up a stack of ground to beat a talented field and that form stacks up nicely for this.
Drawing barrier 10 will likely force her back where she’ll need to sprint late.
Race 4. (13:28) Roku Gin BM78 (1630m)
#2 – Star of Michelin @ $2.20 – Bet Now
The Stuart Kendrick-trained gelding is coming off a win at Eagle Farm and he could win again.
He scored by three lengths in a one-sided effort and he’s every chance of going back-to-back with some luck.
Drawing barrier 10 isn’t ideal but he should be able to find a decent position and run close.
Race 5. (14:03) Healthcare Workers BM72 (2030m)
#5 – Al Jood @ $4.20 – Bet Now
Chris Munce lines up the in-form filly that has won two of her last three starts. The daughter of Al Maher won by 1.8 lengths at Sunshine Coast last start, which was a good effort.
She’s had only one run at Doomben that resulted in a fifth, but she has shown good form since and must be considered here.
Senior rider Larry Cassidy takes the ride.
Race 6. (14:42) XXXX Dry Handicap (1350m)
#4 – Ziemba @ $6 – Bet Now
We’re keeping the faith with Ziemba despite some average form of late. The Robert Heathcote-trained gelding is good enough to win three of his nine starts and he comes into calculations with luck.
He has been getting too far back in the run and he’s much better when ridden close to the pace.
Adin Thompson takes over the riding from Robbie Fradd and that could have a positive impact.
Race 7. (15:27) Tab C6 Plate (1350m)
#14 – Profit @ $2.45 – Bet Now
Profit has yet to run a bad race and he’s every chance of winning his fourth start. The Chris Anderson-trained runner has been in the money in seven of his eight starts.
He hasn’t won since October but he has since taken on Alligator Blood twice and he finished second behind the gator at Eagle Farm.
It’s form that stacks up nicely for this grade.
Race 8. (16:07) Racecourse Village Handicap (1200m)
#1 – Baccarat Baby @ $2.80 – Bet Now
Baccarat Baby is a class animal that has a good record fresh up. The four-year-old owns two wins and two placings from four fresh starts, which bodes well for this.
The daughter of Casino Prince owns eight wins from 18 starts and many of those have come against strong opposition.
She’s a three-time winner at Doomben and we’re expecting a good run.
Race 9. (16:43) Happy Easter From BRC BM78 (1200m)
#2 – Coral Bay @ $21 – Bet Now
Coral Bay is finding it tough to win a race but he went close at Sunshine Coast last start and deserves another chance.
The five-year-old is a four-time winner at this distance and although punters are taking a risk, he’s paying generous odds.
