Race 1. (12:33) Become a BRC Member Maiden (2060m)
#2 – Fire and Light
Fire and Light is still trying to break maidens after 13 attempts, but he flew home to finish second at Ipswich last time out.
The four-year-old owns five placings, including his last two at Eagle Farm and Ipswich, so there’s nothing wrong with his form.
We expect him to finish strongly again.
Stake: 2 Units
Race 2. (13:08) Souths Sports Club Maiden (1350m)
#1 – Starsonus
Starsonus looks to cap off four consecutive placings with a win, and this race is there for the taking.
The four-year-old son of Starspangledbanner ran second at Ipswich last start as a $3.80 chance, and punters are likely to get shorter odds.
Ryan Maloney rides, which helps as he’s drawn wide in barrier 14.
Stake: 2 Units
Race 3. (13:43) XXXX Sideline Beer Garden Handicap (1110m)
#1 – Ritualize
Ritualize didn’t enjoy the heavy track on debut, but he was good enough to post a narrow win.
The two-year-old son of Written By paid $8.50 on debut, and with that win under his belt and 2kg coming off his back, his odds will be shorter.
We’re happy to keep following him in this grade.
Stake: 1 Unit
Race 4. (14:18) Ladbrokes Calcutta & Luncheon BM68 (1660m)
#6 – Feathertop
Feathertop owns two wins and three placings from nine starts, including a second placing at Doomben last time out.
The Matthew Dunn-trained mare by Australia should have many more wins in store throughout the winter, and she loves running at Doomben.
Money is likely to come for her on race day, so take the opening odds.
Stake: 1.5 Units
Race 5. (14:53) Stradbroke Season Book Now BM70 (1200m)
#8 – Socrazyinlove
Socrazyinlove won on debut at Orange before running third at Wyong and fourth at Doomben.
There was nothing wrong with those runs in defeat, and she has since performed well enough in two trials to warrant attention.
Barrier two is ideal, and Angela Jones is riding well.
Stake: 1.5 Units
Race 6. (15:28) XXXX C1 (1200m)
#2 – Simply Excels
Simply Excels showed good speed when winning fresh up at Ipswich before placing at Eagle Farm and Doomben.
It’s the best form for this race, and the four-year-old son of Exceed and Excel chased gamely behind some nice types last start.
It’s another good ride for Maloney, so include him in picks.
Stake: 2 Units
Race 7. (16:03) Sky Racing C3 (1200m)
#5 – Bohemian Lad
Seeking consecutive wins is Bohemian Lad, who gripped on gamely to score at Sunshine Coast.
The four-year-old owns four wins and six placings from 14 starts, so he doesn’t often produce a bad effort, which is what punters want.
Barrier three is ideal, and he should be there to strike.
Stake: 1 Unit
Race 8. (16:38) Ladbrokes Communities BM68 (1350m)
#1 – Chief Witness
Chief Witness kicked off his prep with wins at Beaumont and Doomben, and he was only narrowly beaten last time out.
The son of Star Witness finished a half-head behind Demitasse, which is an excellent form guide for this level of racing.
Barrier 12 isn’t ideal, but his class takes him close.
Stake: 2 Units
