Race 1. (13:08) Drinkwise Maiden Handicap (1650m)
#1 – Maple Door – Bet @ Bet365
Maple Door is getting close to a win after four placings from six starts and we’re backing him here.
The four-year-old son of Sebring owns three placings at Doomben and he ran third behind a smart type in Pretes last start.
Punters could get each-way odds on race day.
Race 2. (13:43) Country Music Raceday Maiden (1200m)
#6 – Yes to Excess – Bet @ Bet365
Yes to Excess was much better when second last time out at Gold Coast and she’s heading in the right direction.
The three-year-old filly was only a length behind the winner as an $11 chance and her odds will be much shorter this time around.
Getting 3kg off her back could make all the difference.
Race 3. (14:18) Tab Venue Mode Maiden (1200m)
#3 – Deferential – Bet @ Bet365
The Robert Heathcote-trained gelding wasn’t far behind the winner on debut at Sunshine Coast and he should improve.
He was a $21 chance on debut but the odds are shorter here and he should give punters a good sight against this quality of field.
Barrier two is ideal and he should be in the mix.
Race 4. (14:53) Spring Nova Lawn Party C4 Handicap (1350m)
#1 – Mob Buster – Bet @ Bet365
Mob Buster was only fair fresh up but the five-year-old gelding has plenty of upside.
The son of Spill the Beans owns three wins and four placings from 12 starts, so he’s a consistent type and this race is there for the taking.
He’s in good hands and punters could get each-way odds.
Race 5. (15:28) BRC Membership on Sale Maiden (1350m)
#6 – Landsborough Lad – Bet @ Bet365
Landsborough Lad is getting painfully close to winning after notching five consecutive placings this campaign.
The David Vandyke-trained five-year-old comes off a second placing at Doomben and he was only a nose behind the winner.
Getting barrier four is ideal and we’re backing him until he wins.
Race 6. (16:03) Tiesto Australia Tour C1 Handicap (2060m)
#6 – Texas Hold’em – Bet @ Bet365
We were impressed with Texas Hold’em last time out when scoring at Warwick last start and he could measure up.
The son of Nom Du Jeu loved the rise in class, and despite facing a stronger field at Doomben, he should pay value each-way odds.
We expect somewhere around $12 for the last-start winner.
Race 7. (16:38) Spring Carnival on Sale BM65 (1200m)
#6 – Hatchet – Bet @ Bet365
Hatchet comes off a win at Doomben and he’s good enough to go back-to-back.
The four-year-old son of Worthy Cause owns a win and a placing from two starts at Doomben and the only negative is the wide barrier draw.
He’s unbeaten in soft conditions and punters should get value odds.
