Doomben horse racing tips & form

Race 1. (13:03) XXXX Dry C1 Handicap (1050m)

#1 – Heroic Son – Bet @ Sportsbet

Heroic Son scored on debut at Doomben by 1.3 lengths before going close on this track last time out.

The two-year-old colt hit the line nicely and he could easily be unbeaten, so punters should be confident of a winning result.

A 2kg claim helps and bookmakers should have him firm in markets.

Race 2. (13:38) Sky Racing Maiden (1650m)

#7 – Kopangi – Bet @ Sportsbet

The Chris Waller-trained three-year-old finished second on debut at Gold Coast and he could go one better.

He was only 1.8 lengths behind the winner as a $21 chance, which is odd for a Waller-trained runner on debut.

He won’t be that short again, so expect a similar effort.

Race 3. (14:13) Tab Venue Mode C1 Handicap (1200m)

#7 – Avolonte – Bet @ Sportsbet

Avolonte owns one win and three placings from seven starts, so she has been right around the mark to date.

The three-year-old filly comes off a second placing at Doomben and the track experience will do her plenty of good.

Dropping in weight helps and she should be included.

Race 4. (14:48) Written By Yearlings BM65 (2050m)

#5 – Khaalis – Bet @ Sportsbet

Khaalis scored a win three back at Doomben and he should enjoy getting back to this track.

The five-year-old owns two wins from 10 starts and his effort last time out at Eagle Farm is a good form guide.

Waller could have a big day at Doomben, so include Khaalis in selections.

Race 5. (15:23) Lyndon Keane Media C2 Handicap (1050m)

#7 – Boomnova – Bet @ Sportsbet

Boomnova scored three consecutive wins last season and that form is good enough to win on Wednesday.

The four-year-old mare is unbeaten in two starts at Doomben, and although disappointing at Gold Coast last start, she didn’t enjoy the heavy track.

Getting 2kg off her back is ideal and punters could get value odds.

Race 6. (15:58) Magic Millions Catalogue C1 (1200m)

#12 – Wardaddy – Bet @ Sportsbet

Kris Lees lines up the three-year-old gelding who comes off consecutive second placings.

The son of Panzer Division scored on debut at Taree before finishing second at Port Macquarie and Doomben, so having experience on the track is ideal.

Drawing barrier 11 could make it tough, but the 2kg claim brings him into contention.

Race 7. (16:33) Encryption First Yearlings BM75 (1650m)

#9 – Linthrope Lad – Bet @ Sportsbet

Linthorpe Lad was too slick for them when winning at Doomben last start and a repeat could be on the cards.

The four-year-old owns four wins and four placings from 13 starts, so he’s consistent and demands attention at midweek level.

Dropping to 55kg helps and we expect big things.

Race 8. (17:10) Tattersalls Recognition Stakes (1350m)

#3 – The Harrovian @ $3.60 – Bet @ Sportsbet

Class is with The Harrovian, who owns 17 wins from 34 starts. The eight-year-old does some of his best racing fresh up and at Doomben, so the statistics read well.

His odds have drifted after opening at $2.80, but he’s the testing material and we’re expecting a big resuming run.

We’re happy to take the $3.60 with open arms.

Race 9. (17:45) Trapeze Artist Yearlings C3 (1350m)

#1 – Astro Boy Toy – Bet @ Sportsbet

Astro Boy Toy did enough when running second fresh up at Ipswich and he could improve on that position.

The five-year-old gelding has finished in the first three in six of his eight starts, so the consistency is there.

We like his chances of beating this field so put him on top.
