Doomben horse racing tips & form
Race 1. (13:25) Miller’s Swim School Maiden (1650m)
#5 – Trumped Up – Bet Now
The Robert Heathcote-trained gelding has produced two solid runs from his three-start career. He finished fourth at Gold Coast last start, which followed a bad run at Doomben.
However, his debut run for second at Sunshine Coast was good and anything close to that form could be good enough to win.
Race 2. (14:00) Paddyfest March 14 Maiden (1650m)
#2 – Hostwin Sunlight – Bet Now
It’s not a strong field and Hostwin Sunlight could take advantage. The three-year-old son of Sizzling ran third at Gold Coast last start and that form could be good enough.
He settled just off the pace and battled on nicely. He has drawn to do the same here and the rise in distance shouldn’t worry him at all.
Race 3. (14:35) Gallopers Sports Club Maiden (1050m)
#17 – Our Ariana – Bet Now
Our Ariana is looking to cap off consecutive placings with a win this Wednesday. The three-year-old tried to lead throughout the race last start and was only caught late.
She’s going to enjoy having that experience under the belt and despite drawing wide in barrier 12, she gets in with a light weight on her back.
Race 4. (15:10) BRC Chairman’s Club Maiden (1110m)
#11 – Three Phase – Bet Now
The two-year-old filly could make a winning debut for trainer Matthew Dunn, who has a knack of getting his juveniles to win.
She hasn’t been asked to do much in two trials and betting will tell the full story. The booking of Robbie Fradd is a good sign, so keep her safe.
Race 5. (15:47) Girls Day Out February 22 C2 (1110m)
#10 – Soubrette – Bet Now
Soubrette owns plenty of natural pace and she put the writing on the wall last time out. The Brian Smith-trained mare flashed home late for second at Gold Coast.
That run came over only 900m, so stretching out to the 1110m makes her a better winning chance this time around.
An overdue win looks to be coming soon.
Race 6. (16:22) Tab C3 Handicap (1650m)
#6 – Ultimate Ring – Bet Now
Knocking on the door is Ultimate Ring, which has rattled off four consecutive placings entering this game.
The four-year-old by Hinchinbrook ran on nicely to finish second at Eagle Farm last start and a repeat takes him close.
55kg on the back and he has every chance of winning at each-way odds.
Race 7. (16:57) Ascot Green Maiden (1200m)
#8 – Explosive Quality – Bet Now
Explosive Quality wasn’t so explosive on debut when running last but she turned that form around quickly.
In her defense, that debut run came behind Magic Millions winner Exhilarates, so she was always going to be outclassed. Her run behind Air Spirit was good last start and it’s a good form guide for this race.
Race 8. (17:32) Memberships @ BRC BM70 (1200m)
#1 – Snowzone – Bet Now
Snowzone went up in grade last start and got found out at that level. However, he drops back in grade for this race and it could pay off.
The Lees-trained gelding is a three-time winner from 11 starts and he looks to have open class ability, but it will take some time.
Chance in a very tough race.
Race 9. (18:10) Eva Air BM75 (1200m)
#3 – Fuji Flyer – Bet Now
Fuji Flyer is a flyer and he showed that when winning back-to-back races last time in work. He scored both at Gold Coast before rising in class and struggling a touch.
He has been prepared for this run with a recent trial and although he will need luck from the draw, he owns plenty of speed.
Race 10. (18:40) Ascot Childcare and Kindy C4 (1350m)
#2 – Metamorphic – Bet Now
Metamorphic comes into this having posted a win at Doomben and he’s good enough to kick on with it.
The Kelly Schweida-trained six-year-old is a proven winner at this level and the former Waller runner gets every chance off the inside barrier.
He’s tough to beat and the odds should be appealing.
