Doomben racing tips

Race 1. (13:12) Gallopers Sports Club (1200m)

#6 – Martist @ $4.00

Tony Gollan lines up Martist, who has shown good speed at the trials with two wins and a placing.

The two-year-old colt by Trapeze Artist is bred to show toughness, and after opening at $4.80, money has come for him to win.

That’s a good sign, and it’s enough to put him on top.

Stake: 1.5 Units

Race 2. (13:47) Become a BRC Member BM80 (2200m)

#3 – Enterprise Private @ $3.90

Gunning for four consecutive wins is Enterprise Private, who scored at Doomben two back before winning at Sunshine Coast.

The Kris Lees-trained gelding has yet to finish worse than second at Doomben, and getting the inside draw is enough to take him close.

It’s not an easy field, but he’s only getting better with every run.

Stake: 1.5 Units

Race 3. (14:22) Sunset Soiree Book Now C1 (1350m)

#1 – Heavenly Impact @ $8.00

Heavenly Impact has been all around the mark this preparation without winning, but that could change on Saturday.

The four-year-old son of Harry Angel is only a one-time winner from 14 starts, but his third placing at Doomben last time out is a good form guide.

We’re happy to stick with him at the odds.

Stake: 1 Unit

Race 4. (14:57) Racecourse Village Handicap (1600m)

#11 – The Wheelbarrow @ $3.30

The Wheelbarrow let down nicely to score at Doomben last time out, and another win looms for the three-year-old.

He owns two wins from six starts overall, and although there is more depth to this field, his win came easily by two lengths.

We recommend taking the $3.30 odds before it shortens on race day.

Stake: 2 Units

Race 5. (15:32) Drinkwise Handicap (1350m)

#1 – Fabulantes @ $2.40

We liked the way Fabulantes let down late to score at Doomben, and it showed his fighting qualities.

The three-year-old son of Star Turn owns three wins from 10 starts, which is a good record, and getting 2kg off his back is a big assist.

He’s worth including in multi bets.

Stake: 2.5 Units

Race 6. (16:07) Ladbrokes Blackbook 0MW (1350m)

#12 – Time of my Life @ $4.00

Seeking back-to-back wins is Time of my Life, who won by two lengths last time out at Doomben.

The five-year-old mare by I Am Invincible is a half-sister to Winx, so there will always be eyes on how she performs.

So far, so good, and she goes in the mix at each-way odds.

Stake: 1.5 Units

Race 7. (16:43) Sky Racing C3 (1200m)

#14 – Scripted @ $2.50

We’re not sure how Scripted hasn’t won this preparation, but punters could get paid off this Saturday.

The four-year-old mare by Written By ran three consecutive second placings before finishing seventh behind Poster Girl at the Gold Coast.

She won her only start at Doomben, so she goes clearly on top.

Stake: 3 Units

Race 8. (17:23) Girls Day Out 0MW (1350m)

#8 – Chief in Charge @ $5.50

Seeking three consecutive wins is Chief in Charge, who won his last two starts at Doomben.

The in-form son of Pierata loves running on the track, owning three wins and two placings from six attempts, which is tough to overlook.

55kg on his back makes him a good bet.

Stake: 1.5 Units

Race 9. (18:05) XXXX BM78 (1600m)

#8 – I’m Heroic @ $23.00

Punters get big odds for I’m Heroic, who isn’t the most consistent type going around, but based on his form, he should run well.

The four-year-old ran second two back at Eagle Farm before failing to fire last start, but he’s good at bouncing back.

$4.75 to place is a good bet.

Stake: 1 Unit

Race 10. (18:45) Ladbrokes Owners Promotion C6 (1110m)

#13 – Zoubaby @ $2.40

Zoubaby went straight past a nice type in Yoyo Yeezy last start, and that form should stack up nicely.

The four-year-old mare by Zoustar won her only start at Doomben, so she’s good enough to kick on with it.

Carrying 55kg should be enough to take her close.

Stake: 2 Units
