Doomben free tips & form
Race 1. (13:18) Bay Building C3 Handicap (1350m)
#4 – Cymbalism – BET NOW
Ran as a long-odds chance at Eagle Farm last start but she should find this much easier. The five-year-old was a quality winner fresh up and form like that will see her go close in this.
Chris Meagher lines up the daughter of Denman, which scored by three lengths in a rating 70 affair at Ipswich in November.
Goes close in the small field with a similar effort.
Race 2. (13:53) Advanced Buildings Maiden (1200m)
#11 – Sugar Boom – BET NOW
There’s a sizable boom on this filly which has made headlines throughout the week. Dual trial winner, the latest coming by 3.3 lengths at Sunshine Coast and a top debut effort is expected.
Tony Gollan lines up the filly by Spirit of Boom, which has left plenty of good juveniles since going to stud.
Drawing barrier 10 isn’t ideal but it could give her room to move and wind up in the straight.
Odds will be interesting and likely short.
Race 3. (14:27) Steamatic Maiden (1050m)
#5 – Munich – BET NOW
The Toby Edmonds-trained gelding looks well-placed here to finally break maiden grades after looking likely from five starts.
A son of Snitzel, the three-year-old has run behind the likes of Beidi, Lean Mean Machine and Pohutukawa to date and that’s some list.
Is certainly facing a much easier field and he should be too good for them.
Race 4. (15:05) John Lyng Group Maiden (1350m)
#1 – American Cat – BET NOW
Didn’t quite show his best form when running fifth at Ipswich last start but he’s better than that and an improved run should be on the cards against this field.
The Gollan-trained gelding has placed in three of his five starts and although his last two have been his career worst, he has the class to bounce back and take this out.
Drawn well and the money should be on.
Race 5. (15:49) Cowan Restoration Service BM70 (2240m)
#7 – Jet Train – BET NOW
In good form having won three of her last four starts and although beaten by Errol last start at Ipswich, she could improve nicely to win this.
The Kelly Schweida-trained mare by Mail Train isn’t bred to be a superstar but she scored by two lengths four back and followed that up with a 7.5-length romp in rating 62 grade.
Harder here but that form should be respected.
Race 6. (16:24) Morse Consultancy BM75 (1660m)
#8 – Sepoy Achieva – BET NOW
Scored an overdue win two back and although beaten on this track last start, she drops right down in weight and that’s going to help.
Trained by Chris Waller, the former Sydney runner scored by a half-length two back and that form would take her close to winning again.
Dropping from 58.5kg to 54kg with Robbie Fradd in the saddle is ideal.
Race 7. (17:00) Paynters C4 Plate (1050m)
#4 – Raiden – BET NOW
Boomed home to win at Doomben last start and he has a sprint good enough to continue winning in the Sunshine State.
The Kris Lees-trained five-year-old has won four times from 17 starts and he performed well in New South Wales, but the trip to sunnier skies could help him out.
Jeff Lloyd returns to the saddle to boost his chances.
Race 8. (17:35) QLD All Trades R65 Handicap (1200m)
#6 – Tambo’s Mate – BET NOW
Nice 1.8-length win on debut at Sunshine Coast before running sixth at Doomben but that came in open class and this is much easier.
The three-year-old son of Mossman will appreciate racing against easier opposition and he could return to winning form from the inside barrier.
International rider Mark Du Plessis rides which is a positive.
