Eagle Farm has returned in great order since racing again this year but Doomben has seen the brunt on the action. The same applies here with an eight-race card at Doomben.
We have free tips and form for every race on the Doomben card, which features plenty of value runners.
Doomben free tips & form
Race 1. (12:55) BRC Plate (2400m)
#4 – Lilakai to win – BET NOW
This isn’t much form to go on in this race but the Chris Waller-trained Lilakai looks to have the measure of them. She is a four-year-old with one win and five minor placings, putting her miles ahead of the opposition.
A strong ride with Robbie Fradd is in the saddle and that’s going to help her chances significantly.
Race 2. (13:34) Lunar New Year Raceday C5 (1650m)
#1 – Bratislava to win – BET NOW
Brad Witt lines up the former city horse which has now changed tack to Queensland with moderate success. The five-year-old is a five-time winner from 18 starts and that kind of form would take him close at any level.
Since moving to Queensland, he has yet to win from four starts but there were encouraging signs when running second at Ipswich last start and anything close to that form sees him winning this.
Race 3. (14:07) BRC Memberships C3 Plate (1100m)
#3 – Meet Mr Taylor to win – BET NOW
Unbeaten records are on the line with Meet Mr Taylor, which scored three top wins to open his career and has recently trailled to prepare for this.
His first win came at Gatton in maiden grade before making the rise to Gold Coast where he scored easily by 1.8 lengths. That was backed up with another tidy effort at Doomben and he has many more wins in store.
Bookmakers should install him as the favourite.
Race 4. (14:45) TAB Maiden Plate (1200m)
#4 – Last Edition to win – BET NOW
Not a very well-bred two-year-old but he does have race experience and that’s going to count for something. The son of Seidnazar finished fourth at Sunshine Coast on debut as a $4.75 chance and wasn’t all too far behind them.
Drawing barrier 13 isn’t going to help but having Jeff Lloyd in the saddle is a bonus.
Race 5. (15:15) Tab Maiden Plate (1200m)
#7 – Final Order to win – BET NOW
Another good runner for Jeff Lloyd, which has one placing from three starts and that came at Sunshine Coast last time out.
The well-bred daughter of Commands showed quick improvement after not offering much come race day but trainer Robbie Heathcote places his horses well and with only 55.5kg on his back, Final Order looms as a solid each-way play.
Race 6. (16:05) Ascot Green C3 Plate (1100m)
#6 – Goodonya Sonja to win – BET NOW
Four-year-old mare Goodonya Sonja is a two-win mare which wasn’t too far away from Winter Passage at Doomben last time out and she has had three starts on this track for a win.
That came two back against some smart types as a $13 chance and she might well pay the same price again. This looms as a value chance for punters once again.
Race 7. (16:45) Weddings At BRC BM65 (1350m)
#4 – Copywriter to win – BET NOW
Nearing a win after three close-up placings and this looks her best chance to break through after a winless drought of five runs.
The Stuart Kendrick-trained mare by Written Tycoon is having only her two start at Doomben with the first resulting in a fifth placing behind Show Bender, but she was only 1.9 lengths behind the winner on that occasion and she should strip fitter for this.
Has a good each-way return for punters.
Race 8. (17:20) Sky Thoroughbred Central BM65 (1350m)
#7 – Senchel’s Voice to win – BET NOW
Doesn’t run the most consistent races but from four starts it has won once and placed in another. Looking to rebound after running nine at Sunshine Coast last start, the three-year-old colt by Poet’s Voice has the ability to threaten at this level and could provide punters with some good value.
Each way chance in the final race.
