Doomben horse racing tips & form
Race 1. (12:33) Millers Swim School Maiden (1050m)
#7 – Self Indulgent – Bet @ Sportsbet
Self Indulgent is on debut for Tony Gollan and she could make a winning start after looking good at a recent trial.
The two-year-old daughter of Foxwedge finished a close second at Eagle Farm and she ran a good time for 800m, so the rise in distance is no worry.
Carrying a light weight is ideal and betting markets will be a good guide.
Race 2. (13:08) Mt Franklin Maiden (1200m)
#2 – Enterprise Pomme – Bet @ Sportsbet
Enterprise Pomme comes off a trial win at Eagle Farm and it was a solid enough performance to follow.
The daughter of Spill the Beans is bred to show early speed and we expect her to be well-backed on race day.
Taylor Marshall takes the ride and she gets the inside draw to work with.
Race 3. (13:43) Souths Sports Club Maiden (1200m)
#8 – Seefeld – Bet @ Sportsbet
The two-year-old comes off three consecutive placings and he deserves a winning turn. He ran third behind Secret Tales last start, which is a good form guide for maiden company.
The son of Sebring comes off a trial placing at Eagle Farm behind Enterprise Pomme, so Race 2 could be a good form guide.
Robbie Fradd rides and having experience is ideal.
Race 4. (14:18) BRC Membership Maiden (1350m)
#4 – Right Reason – Bet @ Sportsbet
Knocking on the door is Right Reason, who owns five placings from 10 starts and he’s getting close to breaking through.
The three-year-old finished second at Eagle Farm last start behind Lethal Warning, and although yet to fire in two starts on this track, he has the class on this field.
Barrier six is ideal and punters should get each-way odds.
Race 5. (14:53) XXXX Dry BM72 (1110m)
#5 – Liza with a Zee – Bet @ Sportsbet
Liza with a Zee owns plenty of speed and she showed that when winning at Grafton by a length last month.
The three-year-old daughter of Zoustar is a four-time winner from nine starts, including three at this distance. She showed a good turn-of-foot last start and it’s a good sign of things to come.
Getting 3kg off her back is ideal and we’re expecting another big effort.
Race 6. (15:28) Sky Racing C2 Plate (1200m)
#8 – Kiandra Gold – Bet @ Sportsbet
Looking to remain unbeaten is Kiandra Gold, which scored nicely on debut at Eagle Farm and he could double down on that effort.
The Robert Heathcote-trained son of Redwood showed a good turn-of-foot to score and that holds him in good stead for future racing.
Punters could get value odds and he goes on top.
Race 7. (16:03) Tab Venue Mode BM75 (1350m)
#7 – Brabham – Bet @ Sportsbet
Brabham has made a nice start to his career with three wins and two second placings from eight attempts.
The four-year-old didn’t fire fresh up at Doomben, but he has since won a trial and that will prepare him nicely for this race.
Expect value odds with bookies.
Race 8. (16:38) Mekka Wednesday C2 (1600m)
#1 – Blazing Sunrise – Bet @ Sportsbet
The Kris Lees-trained gelding is improving with every run this preparation, including a third placing at Taree last start.
He is a two-time winner from 15 starts and he has yet to miss a placing from five starts at the distance, which bodes well.
We’re expecting a big run so put him on top.
