Doomben horse racing tips & form

Race 1. (12:33) Racecourse Village Maiden (1110m)

#3 – Gidget @ $21 – Bet @ PlayUp

The two-year-old filly hasn’t been asked for much in two trials and she should be letting down late on Wednesday.

She comes off a fifth at the Doomben trials and she’s in good hands with Jim Byrne in the saddle, which is a massive bonus.

Watch for any late betting moves.

Race 2. (13:08) Whisper Paper Maiden (1110m)

#4 – Majorelle @ $13 – Bet @ PlayUp

Majorelle has the benefit of three race day starts and that should have a big impact on this race.

The two-year-old son of Zoustar ran second at Sunshine Coast two back before placing at Ipswich last time out, which is a good form guide.

Barrier 11 makes it harder but punters should get each-way odds.

Race 3. (13:43) Tab Venue Mode Maiden (1200m)

#1 – Ambitious Spirit @ $4.60 – Bet @ PlayUp

The Tony Gollan-trained four-year-old showed ability during his first preparation when rattling off three consecutive placings.

He didn’t completely handle the heavy conditions at Doomben last start, so getting an improved track should be right up his alley.

Punters should expect another tidy effort.

Race 4. (14:18) Sky Racing C1 Plate (1050m)

#5 – Rakkaus @ $12 – Bet @ PlayUp

Raukkas won on debut at Sunshine Coast by a length before running third at Ipswich, so the form checks out.

The four-year-old mare has been primed with two soft trials and she should be ready to fire on race day, so we’re including here.

A solid betting push would add to our confidence levels.

Race 5. (14:53) Gallopers Sports Club C2 Handicap (1660m)

#2 – Majestic Colour @ $2.30 – Bet @ PlayUp

Majestic Colour is seeking his third consecutive victory after winning at Eagle Farm and Ipswich.

The Schweida-trained three-year-old handles all track conditions and he won by four lengths last time out, which was a classy outing.

Barrier two is ideal and punters should expect another top effort.

Race 6. (15:28) XXXX Dry R65 Handicap (1350m)

#8 – Reeanon @ $6.50 – Bet @ PlayUp

Reeanon won on debut at Doomben and she is good enough to win back-to-back races and remain unbeaten.

The daughter of Scissor Kick scored by 1.5 lengths on a soft track and she gets similar conditions, so she can handle the rise in class.

The inside draw helps and we expect her to be right around the thick of the finish.

Race 7. (16:03) First Asset Management C3 Handicap (1350m)

#6 – Whozyadeeler @ $5 – Bet @ PlayUp

Whozyadeeler was much better when running fourth at Doomben last start and he could improve on that performance.

The five-year-old gelding has winning form on the track and he has form on wet tracks, so he shouldn’t be worried about the soft track.

Punters get each-way odds and they’re worth taking in an even contest.

Race 8. (16:34) Mullins Lawyers C4 Handicap (1200m)

#2 – Holiday Dreams @ $8 – Bet @ PlayUp

Holiday Dreams is a four-time winner from 16 starts and he has plenty more to give this preparation.

The four-year-old son of Exceed and Excel comes off a second placing and he won his only start at Doomben, which bodes well.

Getting 2kg off his back helps and the odds appeal.
