Doomben horse racing tips & form
Race 1. (12:33) Tab Venue Mode Maiden Handicap (1050m)
#5 – With Edge – Bet @ Sportsbet
With Edge is knocking on the door after consecutive second placings and he should be tough to beat against this field.
The four-year-old gelding owns eight placings from 16 starts and it’s only a matter of time before he breaks through to score.
Punters should get each-way odds for With Edge.
Race 2. (13:08) Cascade C5 Plate (1050m)
#3 – Jetski – Bet @ Sportsbet
The four-year-old gelding is talented at best and he enters with four wins from 19 starts. He is a former Sydney-based runner that owns enough talent to take this race out.
He is a son of Lonhro that comes off a third placing at Doomben and although yet to win in these conditions, they are improving throughout the week.
Barrier four is ideal and we’re expecting a big effort.
Race 3. (13:43) Mullins Lawyers Handicap (1200m)
#4 – Blue Pacific – Bet @ Sportsbet
Coming off a win at Warwick is Blue Pacific, which looks capable of handling the rise in class at Doomben.
The Damien Batters-trained two-year-old finished third on debut at Gold Coast and punters should get value odds this time around.
He gets every chance from barrier five, so include here.
Race 4. (14:18) Canadian Club C3 Handicap (1350m)
#3 – Orbisyn – Bet @ Sportsbet
David Vandyke lines up the three-year-old gelding that is unbeaten after three starts. The son of Rich Enuff comes off a stellar win at Sunshine Coast and he should win again.
He won by 6.3 lengths in an effortless display and it followed up easy wins at Doomben and Ipswich, which came by 2.3 and 4.8 lengths.
Expect another winning effort at short odds.
Race 5. (14:53) Mount Franklin C2 (1640m)
#4 – Adelaide’s Diamond – Bet @ Sportsbet
Adelaide’s Diamond owns two wins from four starts and the three-year-old looks to have a bright future.
The son of Adelaide comes off a six-length win at Gold Coast and although it came in heavy conditions, the soft surface will help.
He is a progressive type that could rise through the grades with ease.
Race 6. (15:28) Sky Racing BM70 (1350m)
#6 – Tamilaide – Bet @ Sportsbet
Tamilaide owns two wins from three starts and we like his chances to score another victory.
The three-year-old gelding scored on a heavy track at Gold Coast last start by 2.8 lengths and it was an impressive victory.
He is another son of Adelaide that could easily rise through the grades, so punters should have him on the betting ticket.
Race 7. (16:03) Spirit of Boom BM78 (1200m)
#1 – Slow Hands – Bet @ Sportsbet
Slow Hands is a talented type that owns two wins at Doomben and he could add another on Wednesday.
The six-year-old comes off a 1.3-length win at Eagle Farm and although rising in weight to 61kg, he has handled better fields than this in the past.
Brad Stewart rides and he should be tough to hold out.
Race 8. (16:34) XXXX Dry C3 Handicap (1350m)
#5 – Minjee – Bet @ Sportsbet
Minjee might be out of form, but she’s talented at best and we wouldn’t be leaving her out of calculations.
The Robert Heathcote-trained filly finished fourth at Sunshine Coast last start but she is better than advertised and worth including here.
Punters should get each-way odds and she could be the value runner.
