Doomben horse racing tips
Race 1. (11:43) XXXX Dry Handicap (1110m)
#5 – One Shy Ruby – Bet Now
One Shy Ruby has yet to finish worse than second from three career starts and that could continue for this race.
Trained by Chris Anderson, the two-year-old scored a two-length win at Sunshine Coast before running second behind a smart type last start.
Her form reads well and she is a leading contender.
Race 2. (12:18) Gallopers Sports Club Plate (2030m)
#8 – Cellarmaid – Bet Now
The three-year-old filly doesn’t help herself at the start of the race but she rattles home with authority.
She missed the jump last start and stormed home to finish second behind Vanna Girl, which is terrific form for a race like this.
She is finding it tough to win a race but this looks to be right up her alley.
Race 3. (12:53) Ascot Green BM85 (1050m)
#10 – Lashes – Bet Now
Lashes was a touch disappointing at Rosehill last start but she is dropping in grade for this race.
The Matthew Smith-trained four-year-old is a four-time winner that could turn that form around very quickly.
All four wins have come at this distance and we expect her to be right in the thick of the finish.
Race 4. (13:28) Souths Sports Club Handicap (1350m)
#3 – Scathing – Bet Now
Scathing has been beaten his last two starts but he hasn’t done much wrong and he could improve enough to win here.
The son of Trusting has been primed with a trial win at Doomben and his best racing comes on this track with two wins and three placings from six starts.
Watch for any late market movement with this runner.
Race 5. (14:03) Premiers Cup (2200m)
#1 – Another Dollar @ $4.80 – Bet Now
Another Dollar is worth putting on another dollar after some solid races against tough company.
The Waller-trained five-year-old finished seventh behind Brimham Rocks last start but was a winner three starts back at Randwick.
Drawing barrier three is ideal and she has upside.
Race 6. (14:42) Canadian Club C6 Plate (1350m)
#6 – Soxagon – Bet Now
The four-year-old was beaten by Red Chase last start but he deserves another chance. He has finished in the first two home in 10 of his 15 starts, so he has the consistency.
Trained by Matt Currie, the son of Rocker tried to lead throughout at Eagle Farm and Doomben could be a better surface.
The ability is there and it has plenty of upside.
Race 7. (15:22) Mittys Spear Chief Handicap (1350m)
#9 – Thy Kingdom Come @ $4 – Bet Now
It was a terrific win from Thy Kingdom Come last start after being pocketed in the straight and sprinting hard late.
The John Thompson-trained gelding showed an impressive turn-of-foot and the five-time winner looks set for another good showing.
$4 is a good price and well worth taking.
Race 8. (16:00) Tab Sapphire Stakes (1630m)
#9 – Tricky Gal @ $5.50 – Bet Now
Tricky Gal is coming off back-to-back placings and she made up impressive ground at Rosehill last time out.
The Matthew Smith-trained mare is a five-time winner from 10 starts, so she owns plenty of class and is due another winning effort.
Expect the each-way odds to remain steady throughout the week.
Race 9. (16:34) Alcyone Hotel Residence BM75 (1200m)
#2 – Pinnacle Star – Bet Now
Pinnacle Star is getting close to a win after posting back-to-back placings this campaign. The four-year-old has finished in the money in nine of his 10 starts, so the consistency is there.
Drawing barrier nine could make it tough here, but Ryan Maloney takes the ride and he could work his magic.
Bookmakers should have him well-found in the betting on race day.
