Doomben racing tips

Race 1. (11:21) Become a BRC Member Maiden (1110m)

#3 – Mingela

Mingela is on debut for Tony Gollan after showing good form at the trials, including a win and three placings.

The two-year-old son of Omaha Beach won at Gold Coast by a half-length, which is a good sign for his debut run on Wednesday.

Having Craig Williams riding adds to his chances of winning.

Stake: 1.5 Units

Race 2. (11:57) Mullins Lawyers Maiden (1350m)

#14 – On Point Pixie

On Point Pixie owns four placings from five starts, including placings at Eagle Farm and Ipswich.

The two-year-old filly by Heroic Valour didn’t fire last time out at Doomben, but she’s good enough to bounce back from that run.

Barrier two is ideal and punters should get value each-way odds.

Stake: 1.5 Units

Race 3. (12:33) Breakfast with the Stars Maiden (1350m)

#5 – Green Spring

Green Spring did well to run second on debut at Ipswich when finishing a nose behind the winner.

The two-year-old son of Lucky Vega settled in the back of the field before hitting the line with power, which is a good sign.

Ryan Maloney rides, which adds to his chances of winning.

Stake: 2 Units

Race 4. (13:08) Tattersalls Tiara Maiden (1640m)

#7 – Jillaroo

Form is with Jillaroo, who is threatening to win a race after posting three second placings from five starts.

The four-year-old daughter of Curlin is a former American runner that finished second in her Australian debut at Caulfield.

That was a strong effort, and she should be tough to hold out.

Stake: 2.5 Units

Race 5. (13:43) The Star Stradbroke Season BM70 (1200m)

#1 – Femme Fatale

Class is with Femme Fatale, who owns five wins from 17 starts, including three fresh up wins.

The four-year-old mare by Better than Ready is a past winner at Doomben, and there isn’t much going against her in this race.

She could get back to winning form in a big way.

Stake: 2.5 Units

Race 6. (14:18) Mullins Lawyers Fred Best Classic (1350m)

#2 – Angel Capital @ $4.00

Angel Capital is packed full of ability, boasting four wins from seven starts, including quality win at Caulfield last time out.

The three-year-old son of Harry Angel didn’t fire at his only run at Doomben, but he looks ready to fire on Wednesday.

Getting $4 for a runner with his ability is excellent shopping.

Stake: 2.5 Units

Race 7. (14:53) XXXX Gold C1 (2040m)

#9 – Mazis

Mazis hasn’t made the most consistent start to his career, but his win two back at Sunshine Coast is a good form guide.

The three-year-old gelding by American Pharoah broke maidens by 1.8 lengths before failing to handle the heavy conditions last time out.

Soft tracks suit, so expect a bounce back.

Stake: 1 Unit

Race 8. (15:28) World Pool C3 (1350m)

#3 – Flying Aurelius

Looking to remain unbeaten is Flying Aurelius, who won at Gold Coast and in consecutive runs at Eagle Farm.

The four-year-old son of Flying Artie scored by 2.5 lengths last time out before being primed with a trial placing at Doomben.

Betting will be a good guide for Wednesday’s race.

Stake: 1.5 Units

Race 9. (16:03) Sky Racing BM70 (1200m)

#3 – Gin a Tonic

Gin a Tonic turned his form around with an overdue win at Ipswich in heavy conditions, so any moisture in the surface won’t do his chances any harm.

The three-year-old son of Better than Ready is a past winner at Doomben, and getting weight off his back only helps his chances.

It’s an even field, but he should be right in the mix.

Stake: 1.5 Units

Race 10. (16:34) Ladbrokes SRM in Multis C2 (1640m)

#3 – Warrant

Warrant did well to run second at Sunshine Coast last start, and he’s our top pick to go one better.

The four-year-old son of Russian Revolution is a two-time winner over the distance, and he’s not up against an overly tough field.

Barrier five suits, so include him at each-way odds.

Stake: 1 Unit
