5/06/19 – Wednesday Horse Racing Tips for Doomben

The Brisbane Winter Carnival continues this Wednesday with an eight-race card from Doomben.

Conditions look ideal in the Sunshine State and punters could fill their pockets before a huge State of Origin game at Suncorp Stadium later that night.

Doomben free tips & form

Race 1. (11:58) Lawrence & Hanson Maiden (1200m)

#4 – Malawi Gold – Bet Now

Punters have been burned at his last two starts but we’re sticking with the three-year-old.

The Matthew Dunn-trained son of Smart Missile was beaten as the $1.30 and $1.57 favourite his last two starts. Those runs were fair but he’s got improvement to come with fitness on his side.

Gets a good run from the draw.

Race 2. (12:33) Haymans Maiden (1110m)

#8 – Raging Pole – Bet Now

Raging Pole has had three starts for three placings and is a chance of scoring a win in this.

The Tony Sears-trained two-year-old finished third at Toowoomba last start after settling midfield and he has good form prior to that.

Drawn a touch deep but it should be right in the mix.

Race 3. (13:08) Schneider Electric Maiden (1110m)

#2 – Baroda – Bet Now

Toby Edmonds lines up the two-year-old which has performed well at the trials in preparation for this run.

The filly by Epaulette scored by one length at Gold Coast two back and ran well enough at Doomben last time out.

The odds will determine her winning chances but she’s likely to be well-favoured.

Race 4. (13:43) Class 2 Plate (2040m)

#2 – Our Mantra – Bet Now

Our Mantra doesn’t have the best form coming into this but he could turn it all around here.

The four-year-old wasn’t too far behind them when running fifth at Doomben last start and he only needs a touch of luck to figure in the finish.

Drawn wide but expect a tough ride from Robbie Fradd.

Race 5. (14:18) NHP Plate (1110m)

#5 – Raiden – Bet Now

Raiden is a quick type and could back up his win at Sunshine Coast with another win here.

The former Sydney-based runner scored by 3.8 lengths last time out and although that came in wet conditions, he could run well on the dry.

Drawing barrier four should see him settle close and he likes to finish off nicely.

Race 6. (14:53) Energy Super C3 Handicap (1350m)

#7 – Lucky Mission – Bet Now

Kelly Schweida lines up the talented three-year-old gelding which has plenty of upside.

The son of Shamexpress has finished in the money in four of his five starts, including a one-length win last time out at Doomben.

Drawing barrier 10 could provide some problems but it only requires a good ride and he should be right in the thick of the finish.

Race 7. (15:28) IPD Handicap (1350m)

#8 – Sleepy Heart – Bet Now

Sleepy Heart is looking to win all three starts this campaign and we wouldn’t be ruling out the three-year-old filly.

Matt Dunn lines up the daughter of Show A Heart, which won at Ipswich fresh up and backed that up with a win at Gold Coast.

Drawn barrier 13 so Ron Stewart will have his work cut out for him, but carrying only 54kg should see her right in the mix.

Race 8. (16:03) GLG BM65 (1200m)

#8 – Don’t You Know Him – Bet Now

Tony Gollan trains the four-year-old gelding which didn’t fire last time out but was better when winning fresh up.

The son of I Am Invincible scored a 2.5-length win at Ipswich and should be better suited to this level of racing.

Jeff Lloyd is retiring after this Brisbane Winter Carnival and he’ll have some supporters backing him.
