Doomben horse racing tips & form
Race 1. (14:35) Tab Venue Mode Maiden Handicap (1110m)
#1 – Head Legislator – Bet @ Sportsbet
Head Legislator comes off two placings from his last three starts, including a second placing at Doomben.
The three-year-old son of Headwater was only a nose behind Hey Big Splenda, which should be good form going forward.
Barrier two is ideal and he should go close.
Race 2. (15:13) Sky Racing BM65 (1650m)
#2 – Igor – Bet @ Sportsbet
Igor scored a narrow win at Sunshine Coast two starts back although beaten last start, he drops in grade for this contest.
The Kacy Fogden-trained three-year-old was only 3.5 lengths behind the winner in open company, so it was a good effort going forward.
It’s not the hardest field ever and he could take advantage.
Race 3. (15:48) Stradbroke Season May-June C3 (1050m)
#2 – The Move – Bet @ Sportsbet
The Move is talented at best and he should have too much pace for this field. He owns two wins and four placings from eight starts, so he’s rarely out of the money.
The son of Hinchinbrook comes off a trial win at Doomben and he has placed in all three starts at Doomben to date.
Barrier 12 is the only negative but he owns good tactical pace so punters shouldn’t be worried.
Race 4. (16:23) XXXX Dry C4 Plate (1200m)
#13 – Ingear – Bet @ Sportsbet
Ingear suffered an upset loss at Eagle Farm last start when beating as the $1.30 favourite, but punters shouldn’t drop her.
She is a talented type that owns three wins and six placings from 12 starts, so dropping to 55.5kg is ideal for a midweek contest.
It’s not the easiest field but punters should expect short odds again.
Race 5. (16:58) Mount Franklin BM70 (1650m)
#2 – Bonaparte – Bet @ Sportsbet
The comes off two wins from his last three starts and the latest was a classy 3.8-length win at Sunshine Coast.
He is a well-bred son of Pierro that owns three wins and seven placings, so he has the class edge and getting a 3kg claim helps.
We expect a big effort against this level of opposition.
Race 6. (17:33) Tab Live Sky Racing Vision C1 (1200m)
#3 – Hey Big Splenda – Bet @ Sportsbet
Hey Big Splenda comes off a terrific win at Doomben where he got the better of Head Legislator in a driving finish.
Punters had to take $1.70 last time out but the odds should be better this time around. He finished third in the Magic Millions Maiden and that form has stacked up well since.
Robbie Fradd rides and he could get the job done again.
Race 7. (18:10) BRC Girls Day Out BM70 (1350m)
#13 – Wild and Ready – Bet @ Sportsbet
Wild and Ready is a two-time winner scored a half-length win at Eagle Farm two starts back, which is ideal form.
The four-year-old mare has yet to fire from three starts at Doomben, but it’s not the strongest field and he could take advantage.
Punters should get each-way odds in the penultimate race.
Race 8. (18:45) Racecourse Village C1 Handicap (1350m)
#4 – Zoukina – Bet @ Sportsbet
Zoukina has yet to finish worse than third from six career starts and five of those have come at Doomben.
The four-year-old mare scored a win two starts back by two lengths and he followed that up with a second placing.
Barrier two is ideal and Jim Byrne takes the ride.
