Doomben horse racing tips & form

Race 1. (13:51) Tab Venue Mode C1 Handicap (1200m)

#1 – Ready Mister Music – Bet @ Sportsbet

Ready Mister Music didn’t have the most consistent campaign last time in work, but it did include a win at Gold Coast.

The two-year-old son of Better Than Ready followed it up with a poor run at Doomben, but his subsequent trial effort at Sunshine Coast was a better guide.

Drawing the outside barrier isn’t ideal but he could have too much speed for them.

Race 2. (14:26) Sky Racing Maiden Plate (1350m)

#9 – She’s At Regetta – Bet @ Sportsbet

The David Vandyke-trained filly didn’t do much wrong on debut when finishing third at Doomben on a heavy track.

She was only 1.9 lengths behind the winner and it was a much better run than her trial form indicated. The daughter of Lonhro has plenty of upside and we wouldn’t be surprised to see her winning this race.

Senior rider Mark du Plessis is in the saddle and barrier four is ideal.

Race 3. (15:05) Qld Guineas Day 1 May Maiden (1350m)

#11 – Maxcalemma – Bet @ Sportsbet

Consistency is with Maxcalemma, which has rattled off three consecutive third placings, including one at Grafton last start.

The three-year-old gelding flashed home for second behind Enrique and we’re expecting that form to hold up nicely at maiden level.

There isn’t much form in this race and he could take advantage.

Race 4. (15:45) Doomben 10,000 Day Maiden (1350m)

#1 – Kipchoge – Bet @ Sportsbet

Tony Gollan lines up the three-year-old gelding which has had four minor placings from five career starts.

The son of Rich Enuff is desperate for a win and punters would agree. He has been right around the mark so far and this race is there for the taking.

Barrier six is ideal and he handled the wet conditions last start, so this should be no harder on Wednesday.

Race 5. (16:25) Doomben Cup Day BM75 (1600m)

#4 – I Could Do Better – Bet @ Sportsbet

I Could Do Better scored a win on a heavy track at Doomben by a length earlier this month and that is a solid betting guide.

The five-year-old is a four-time winner from 19 starts for Chris Waller and he owns a better turn-of-foot than most in this race.

He owns a win and a placing on this track, so punters should be confident of a solid outing.

Race 6. (17:05) Derby Day BM78 (1110m)

#7 – Amiche – Bet @ Sportsbet

Amiche has made a professional start to her career after posting four wins and three placings from eight starts.

The supremely consistent four-year-old comes off a fresh-up win at Doomben and she scored by 3.8 lengths. It was a dominant display and she could be heading for higher grades this season.

Barrier nine will make it harder, but she’s classy and worth a bet.

Race 7. (17:41) Oaks Day C2 Handicap (1200m)

#7 – Roman Republic – Bet @ Sportsbet

Roman Republic scored a win on debut at Doomben before heading out for a spell, which is always a good sign.

The four-year-old gelding scored easily by 2.3 lengths and despite drawing barrier 10, he could have the class to overcome it.

He hasn’t raced for over a year, but his recent trial was solid enough.

Race 8. (18:15) Stradbroke Day BM70 (1350m)

#9 – Sacred Suite – Bet @ Sportsbet

Sacred Suite is a two-time winner from 11 starts and we expect that record to improve significantly in 2021.

The Waller-trained son of Sacred Falls went through his paces at the Gold Coast trials and he hit the line nicely over 1000m.

He goes well at this track and punters should get each-way odds to enjoy.
