The four-year-old son of Pierata is a six-time winner from 17 starts, so the ability is there, and he doesn’t need to improve to win this race.

Getting James McDonald riding only helps his chances.

The six-year-old is a two-time winner second-up, and he has a win and a placing from three starts at Doomben.

He’s good enough to cause an upset at big odds.

#1 – Burma Star @ $4.40

Punters get each-way odds for Burma Star, who fought bravely for second at Hawkesbury last time out, which is a good form guide.

The three-year-old colt by Exceed and Excel owns two wins and five placings from 11 starts, and having Ryan Maloney riding is a bonus.

The two-year-old son of Captivant has yet to pay more than $1.55 in two unbeaten starts, so punters get better odds this time around.

McDonald riding is ideal, and he could measure up to this level of racing.

#6 – Cristal Clear @ $10.00

He’ll get a dream run from barrier five, so he’s worth including in picks.

Race 9. (16:38) HKJC World Pool Rough Habit Plate (2000m)

Accidental Bid didn’t get a run at Group 1 level last week, but this is an ideal target for the quality colt.

The three-year-old colt is unbeaten in two starts in Australia, including a 7.8-length win last time out in wet track conditions.

Barrier 18 isn’t ideal, but he has time to find cover.
