Doomben horse racing tips

Race 1. (11:20) Tab BM80 (1050m)

#10 – Papa Joe – Bet Now

Papa Joe scored back-to-back wins to open his account this preparation and he could get back to winning form here.

The four-year-old finished fourth at Ipswich last start and he’ll be better for the run. Drawing barrier one should see him right in the thick of the action.

Race 2. (11:55) Mittys BM78 (2020m)

#2 – Galtero – Bet Now

The Tony Gollan-trained gelding is knocking on the door after posting two second placings from his last three starts.

He is a son of Snitzel that tried to lead throughout at Sunshine Coast last start but was narrowly run down on the line.

That form lines up nicely and he shouldn’t be too far away.

Race 3. (12:30) Tab BM72 (1200m)

#2 – Hollaback Girl – Bet Now

A consistent mare, Hollaback Girl could turn that form into winning form here. She has placed at her last four starts and she has been in work for some time now.

Her fitness should shine through here and despite drawing barrier 11, she has good barrier speed and should sit handy.

Punters should get each-way odds.

Race 4. (13:05) XXXX Dry BM72 (1200m)

#6 – Few Too Many – Bet Now

Few Too Many didn’t fire at Eagle Farm last preparation but he could return in fine order. The Ben Ahrens-trained gelding placed in a recent trial and that’s a good sign.

He’s a son of Captain Sonador that owns five wins and seven placings from 28 starts, so he’s capable on his day.

This field is there for the taking and he could run at value odds.

Race 5. (13:45) Tab BM85 (1350m)

#8 – Red Chase – Bet Now

Red Chase is coming off a gutsy win at Sunshine Coast and he could make it two on the bounce.

The four-year-old capped off some solid form with the win and he’s going to get an easy run from the inside barrier.

His best form comes at Doomben and punters should get juicy odds.

Race 6. (14:25) Roku Gin Plate (1110m)

#7 – Gotta Kiss @ $2.45 – Bet Now

Gotta Kiss was no match for potential superstar Isotope last start, but she could turn that form around.

The Steven O’Dea-trained filly scored two wins last preparation and anything close to that form should be good enough to beat this field.

Stick with her as she has class and now race fitness on her side.

Race 7. (15:05) Sky Racing Doomben Guineas (1615m)

#8 – Vanna Girl @ $3.40 – Bet Now

Since markets opened, strong money has come for Vanna Girl. The Edmonds-trained filly owns four wins from seven starts, including a win at Gold Coast last month.

She’s progressing nicely this season and she’s unbeaten in two starts over the mile. It bodes well for a good run and getting the inside won’t do her any harm.

Watch the betting markets with interest.

Race 8. (15:45) BRC Sprint (1200m)

#5 – Vega One @ $3.70 – Bet Now

Vega One should have won fresh up and it was a huge run in defeat. The four-year-old is on track for a Group 1 target later this carnival and he could take this out first.

He’s a five-time winner and with a win, he’ll crack the $1 million earnings barrier. He is the class act of this field and we think Kementari is a false favourite.

Stick with Vega One at the better odds.

Race 9. (16:25) Ascot Green BM80 (1615m)

#6 – Fasano @ $3.80 – Bet Now

Fasano got too far back in the run last start and he did well just to finish eighth. Prior to that he won two in a row and that’s a much better form guide.

He has run well at Doomben in the past with a win and a placing, so punters are getting good odds considering.

Rising to 1615m is ideal and we’re confident of his chances.
