Doomben racing tips
—
Having race day experience is ideal for Boomelli, who was the skinny $1.16 favourite when beating a field of three on debut.
It was an effortless win for the two-year-old filly by Spirit of Boom, who could measure up against a much stronger and bigger field.
Money could come for her on race day, so put her on top.

Seeking three consecutive wins is Mr Buster, who is starting to mature into a handy type for Ciaron Maher.
The six-year-old won at Eagle Farm before scoring at Doomben by a length in a big field, which should only give him confidence.
This race is there for the taking, so back him to score again.
Stake: 3 Units
Seeking back-to-back wins is Willy Jack, who dug deep to break maidens at Eagle Farm last time out.
The three-year-old son of Pierata will need to carry a big weight, but he’s good enough to handle what is only a moderate field.
We expect a betting push on race day, so take the opening odds.

Looking to cap off four consecutive placings with a win is Alectrona, who also comes off a nice trial win at Eagle Farm.
Having that trial win under her belt should be enough to take her close, and she has yet to finish worse than second at Doomben.
She carries the weight well, so put her on top.

A fit runner is Great Aspirations, who won earlier this preparation at Ipswich before running three solid races in defeat.
Two of those races came at Doomben, and although he’s yet to win here from eight attempts, he has been close on multiple occasions.
He’s from the Gollan stable, and he gets a good barrier.
Stake: 1 Unit
Looking to get back to winning form is Exceed Speed, who scored at Doomben two starts back before running at Toowoomba.
The son of Exceed and Excel has a nice record of four wins and five placings from 14 starts, so he’s quick enough to handle this field.
We expect his odds to remain steady throughout the week.
Stake: 1.5 Units
Boston Rocks is looking for a confidence boost after struggling to post wins this preparation, but he’s talented at his best.
He’s a six-time winner from 21 starts, with most of those wins coming in Sydney. We expect that form to hold up well in Queensland.
Getting down in the weights to 54kg could turn the tide in his favour.
Stake: 2 Units
Silvanito didn’t fire at Rosehill last start, so trainer Nathan Doyle has brought him to Queensland in the hopes of finding something easier.
The six-year-old has only three wins from 25 starts, but he has been racing against stronger fields in Sydney, so that form stacks up well.
Getting the inside draw could switch him on, so he’s worth backing.
Stake: 2 Units
It’s not an easy field, but Giliana is already a two-time winner this preparation and she could add another to her record.
The five-year-old mare by Capitalist won at Sunshine Coast three back as a $1.80 favourite, and she’s better than her two subsequent starts suggest.
She’s helped by the 54kg, which is enough to include her in selections.
Stake: 1 Unit
Caspernova turned consistent form into a win at Doomben last start, and we believe he has another win in store on Saturday.
He owns two wins and three placings from five starts at Doomben, so he loves the track, and that’s his biggest asset.
He is good enough to cope with this level of racing.
Stake: 1.5 Units
