Doomben horse racing tips & form
—
Race 1. (14:53) Doubtland Yearlings Maiden (1200m)
#2 – Rockrata
There are some nice debutantes racing, but we’re going with race day experience.
The two-year-old colt by Pierata didn’t show much early on before finishing second at Sunshine Coast last time out.
He should be better for recent racing, and Ryan Maloney riding is a big bonus.
Race 2. (15:28) Road to Magic Millions on Sale C1 (1050m)
#1 – Better Be Nordy
Better Be Nordy turned his form around when winning at Eagle Farm fresh up, so he could kick on with it.
The four-year-old son of Better than Ready won narrowly, and getting an inside barrier adds to his appeal.
Look for each-way odds on race day.
Race 3. (16:03) Kobayashi at Aquis Maiden (1350m)
#7 – Central Park
Central Park showed good pace on debut when placing at Ipswich, so he could hit the ground running this preparation.
The three-year-old son of Manhattan Rain didn’t fire last time out, but he has been primed with a trial win.
Jake Bayliss is a strong rider, and that should help his chances in the run to the line.
Race 4. (16:38) Sky Racing Maiden (1350m)
#3 – Hidden Flame
There could be strong race day betting support for Hidden Flame, who owns one trial placing from three attempts.
She is in the Tony Gollan stable, which means plenty, and the daughter of Pierro is bred to be handy.
Look for any form of betting support, which would be a good sign.
Race 5. (17:13) XXXX Gold BM65 (2240m)
#6 – Skylon
Skylon turned his form around with a win at Ipswich and a placing at Eagle Farm.
The Chris Waller-trained four-year-old did well enough over distance last start, but dropping to 2240m is ideal.
Barrier 13 doesn’t make much difference over this distance, so he has time to find cover and launch with a winning run.
Race 6. (17:48) Ladbrokes Live Betting BM65 (1660m)
#6 – Talk Time
Talk Time rattled off three consecutive wins to start his preparation before coming to the city and running fifth.
It was a solid effort in defeat, and he’s still learning the game, so we’re happy to stick with him.
Punters should get each-way odds on race day, so take the value available.
Race 7. (18:25) BRC Ascot Sunsets Series BM68 (1110m)
#5 – Caesaris
Caesaris is already a two-time winner this preparation, including wins at Toowoomba.
The four-year-old mare by Capitalist ran fourth at Doomben last time out behind Amore Veloce, and that’s a tidy form guide.
Having Ryan Maloney in the saddle is a bonus, so we’re including him in our selections.
