Doomben horse racing tips

Race 1. (13:23) Stav, Abbey And Matt Handicap (1200m)

#2 – Lady Banff @ $1.75 – Bet Now

Punters will have to take the shorts with Lady Banff, but given her debut effort, we’re in her camp.

The Matthew Dunn-trained two-year-old scored by a length on this track and there’s no reason why she couldn’t repeat.

Taking the $1.75 is never easy, especially for a juvenile, but she’s the best-performed runner in the field so stick with her.

Race 2. (13:58) Eagle Way Prelude Handicap (1615m)

#1 – Guntantes @ $1.95 – Bet Now

We are going with another odds-on favourite here but he scored nicely for us last time out.

The Robert Heathcote-trained gelding scored by a length at Doomben and paid an incredible $6 for the win.

We said those odds were great value and although paying only $1.95 here, he meets an easier field.

Gets the gun-run off the inside draw.

Race 3. (14:33) G.H. Mumm BM70 (2020m)

#1 – Own Sweet Way @ $6.50 – Bet Now

Two wins from your last three starts is good form and Own Sweet Way could win again.

The five-year-old gelding scored by two lengths at Sunshine Coast in September before winning again last start at Gold Coast.

Likes to run on the speed and that’s going to suit at this track.

Race 4. (15:08) Lazy Yak C3 Plate (1350m)

#14 – Notonya Nelly @ $13 – Bet Now

Notonya Nelly doesn’t win often with only two wins from 15 starts, but she could add some value at each-way odds.

The five-year-old mare ran well for fourth at Eagle Farm last start and she could turn the tables on a few of these.

This is a track where she has placed twice from three starts and given the place odds of $4, we’re prepared to label her as an each-way hope.

Race 5. (15:48) Tattersall’s Members Handicap (1350m)

#11 – All Important @ $4.80 – Bet Now

Punters have been patiently waiting for All Important to get back to winning form and it could come now.

The Tony Gollan-trained five-year-old finished a close second last start and he firmly put the writing on the wall.

Dropping right down in weight to 54kg is ideal and we’d be surprised if he wasn’t fighting out the finish with Jake Bayliss in the saddle.

Must be included in selections.

Race 6. (16:28) Winning Edge 1MW (1110m)

#1 – Constant Flight @ $2.35 – Bet Now

David Vandyke has Constant Flight running nicely this campaign and he could score his third win from his last four starts.

The five-year-old is a winner of six from 12, so punters have followed the son of Written Tycoon with great success.

He scored a win fresh up at Doomben and it came by 3.3 lengths, so there’s plenty to like about that form going forward.

Has been best-backed to win and rightfully so.

Race 7. (17:08) Spirit of Boom Classic (1200m)

#6 – Spirit’s Choice @ $4.20 – Bet Now

Spirit’s Choice drops back in class after running eighth behind Tofane at Flemington and she could bounce back.

The four-year-old mare has eight wins from 19 starts to her name and it’s tough to overlook that terrific winning record.

The only negative is her record at Doomben, but she gets into this race nicely and punters are getting good odds for the risk.

Race 8. (17:48) Sky Racing Tattersall’s Recogn (1350m)

#10 – Tambo’s Mate @ $3.80 – Bet Now

Tambo’s Mate is a nice type which has finished in the first two in eight of his 11 career starts.

The four-year-old by Mossman has already won five times this campaign and although he’s been up for awhile, he has race fitness on his side.

Gets into the race beautifully on the weights at 54kg and that could be enough to see him winning again.

Race 9. (18:25) Stella Artois C6 Handicap (1615m)

#2 – Get Stuck In @ $5.50 – Bet Now

Get Stuck In just needs some luck from a tricky barrier to be competitive here.

The Gollan-trained five-year-old has won six of his 15 starts and he was a winner here in September, which bodes well for this.

Just needs to get a good ride from Baylee Nothdurft and he should be fighting out the finish at nice odds.
