Doomben horse racing tips
Race 1. (13:13) Cole Diesel BM72 (1050m)
#1 – Sugar Boom – Bet @ Sportsbet
Sugar Boom is a speedy mare that has a much better record than her recent form suggests. She owns four wins and three placings from 11 starts, so there is plenty to like.
The daughter of Spirit of Boom owns good form at Doomben and with an apprentice claimer riding, she gets some weight relief.
Race 2. (13:48) Bore Head Quality (1350m)
#2 – Clearance Sale – Bet @ Sportsbet
Three consecutive wins are in the offing for Clearance Sale, which looked good at Eagle Farm before winning at Sunshine Coast.
He is working through the grades with style and his 2.3 length win at Eagle Farm has been a good form race since.
Expect another tidy effort from an improving type.
Race 3. (14:23) Madison Cleaning Services C3 (1350m)
#9 – Syncline – Bet @ Sportsbet
The inside draw is ideal for Syncline, which needs to recapture his best form. He didn’t fire at Eagle Farm last start but he was good enough to score back-to-back wins earlier this preparation.
That form would take him close and carrying 55kg off the inside draw could help him turn the tables on recent efforts.
Race 4. (14:58) Specialised Plan BM80 (2200m)
#6 – Kimpembe – Bet @ Sportsbet
Chris Waller has this four-year-old gelding humming this season after posting three consecutive wins.
The son of Savabeel defeated a small field at Eagle Farm two back before putting away a quality field by 2.8 lengths last start.
His form reads well and carrying 54kg adds to the appeal.
Race 5. (15:33) Harcourts Real Estate C6 (1200m)
#10 – Explosive Quality – Bet @ Sportsbet
The four-year-old mare has returned from a spell in fine form after posting back-to-back wins at Sunshine Coast.
She scored by 1.5 lengths last time out and although facing a harder field, carrying only 54kg is right up her alley.
Look for each-way odds from bookmakers.
Race 6. (16:23) Clear To Work BM75 (1600m)
#6 – Stoked – Bet @ Sportsbet
Stoked is gunning for her fourth consecutive win after scoring by 3.3 lengths at Sunshine Coast last start.
The talented daughter of Shooting To Win now owns five wins and four placings from 13 starts, so she is rarely far away.
Drawing barrier 11 makes it tough but expect a good run with luck.
Race 7. (17:00) Liquor Legends Handicap (1600m)
#5 – Top Prospect – Bet @ Sportsbet
Kris Lees lines up the seven-year-old gelding that has only narrowly missed at his last couple of starts.
He ran second behind Humbolt Current two back before going down by a short head to Tavion Prince last time out.
Carrying 55kg is ideal and he should be tough to beat.
Race 8. (17:38) Tab Create Your Calendar 0MW (1350m)
#3 – Starvirgo – Bet @ Sportsbet
Starvirgo has been mixing his form this season but he scored a win two starts ago at Sunshine Coast, so stick with him.
The Robert Heathcote-trained gelding followed that up by running fourth at Eagle Farm and form out of that race stacks up well.
He should get every chance from a good barrier and punters often get each-way odds with this runner.
Race 9. (18:22) Lexus C6 Handicap (1200m)
#13 – Metson – Bet @ Sportsbet
Metson scored a good form win at Eagle Farm last start and we are sticking with the six-year-old gelding.
The five-time winner had been around the mark this year and it was good to see him cap that form off with a win.
Getting in with only 54kg is ideal and he can handle the rise in class.
