Doomben horse racing tips
Race 1. (12:23) Tab Create Spring Calendar C3 (1110m)
#6 – Niedorp @ $1.35 – Bet @ Sportsbet
Niedorp has the class edge over this field and that is reflected by her short odds. She has electric speed and she has faced fields much stronger than this.
It is a good starting point for her preparation and given her excellent fresh-up record, expect a winning effort.
Race 2. (12:58) Driver Recruitment Handicap (1200m)
#5 – Xerri @ $4.40 – Bet @ Sportsbet
Xerri is classy at best and he won’t take long to get back into winning form. The Edmonds-trained gelding has finished in the money in five of his six starts, so expect another good effort.
He is a speedy son of Snitzel that gets every chance from barrier four and he could finish over the top of his opposition.
Race 3. (13:33) Bucher Municipal C6 Handicap (1615m)
#2 – Ziemba @ $3.40 – Bet @ Sportsbet
The four-year-old gelding was beaten last start but he wasn’t disgraced when finishing third at Doomben.
His form prior included back-to-back wins at Eagle Farm and Doomben, so his form reads well for this level of racing.
$3.40 is a value price from bookmakers.
Race 4. (14:08) Suez 2YO Plate (1110m)
#5 – Ghostwriter @ $5 – Bet @ Sportsbet
Ghostwriter is on debut and the expensive colt could make a winning start. The son of I Am Invincible cost close to $1 million and the relation to High Chaparral has looked good at the trials.
We are not sure why he’s still paying $5 to win, as we thought he would be a $3 chance. However, we’ll take the value on offer.
Race 5. (14:43) Daimler Trucks Brisbane BM72 (2020m)
#11 – Ocean Treaty @ $4 – Bet @ Sportsbet
Ocean Treaty is gunning for four consecutive wins and the four-year-old mare looks a good chance of doing so.
The daughter of Ocean Park is coming off a win at Gold Coast and although it was against easier opposition, she won well.
$4 is a respectable price and it could shorten throughout the week.
Race 6. (15:23) Nugrow Handicap (1200m)
#1 – Dusty Tycoon @ $5.50 – Bet @ Sportsbet
Dusty Tycoon is a speedy type that needs to jump well to have a chance. The two-time winner has done her best racing when riding the speed, so expect a positive ride from Dale Smith.
After opening at $8.50, the daughter of Written Tycoon has been confidently backed throughout thr week, which is a good sign.
Race 7. (16:06) Mr Suez Jim Cahill C6 Plate (1350m)
#2 – Beaufort Park @ $7.50 – Bet @ Sportsbet
The form of Beaufort Park can’t be underestimated after notching three consecutive wins at Gold Coast and Doomben.
He was a nose better than his opposition last start, which included many of his rivals on Saturday. The bodes well and his turn-of-foot makes him an asset.
$7.50 is well worth taking on an each-way basis.
Race 8. (16:43) Austrans BM90 (1050m)
#12 – Spaceboy @ $3 – Bet @ Sportsbet
Spaceboy is the class runner in this field and with four wins and eight placings from 15 starts, he should be tough to beat again.
The four-year-old son of Deep Field has ran superb trials to prepare for this race and that bodes well for the favourite.
His odds could firm on race day, so take the value on offer.
Race 9. (17:22) Superior Park Handicap (1350m)
#7 – Red Chase @ $4.40 – Bet @ Sportsbet
Red Chase has been in fine form this year and he looks set to win another race after two close placings.
The five-year-old is a seven-time winner overall and two of those wins have come at Doomben, so he likes the track.
Punters get each-way odds and they’re worth taking.
Race 10. (18:05) Sky Racing BM78 (1200m)
#7 – Thine Is The Power @ $5.50 – Bet @ Sportsbet
The five-year-old is classy at best and she won her only other start at Doomben. Her form since arriving in Queensland has been top notch and it could continue here.
The daughter of Street Boss is drawn well in barrier five and punters get odds worth taking this Saturday.
