Doomben horse racing tips & form
Race 1. (14:17) Bay Building Services Maiden (1350m)
#4 – Olsen – Bet @ Sportsbet
Olsen comes off a trial placing at Sunshine Coast and the three-year-old looks good enough to win on debut.
The son of Shocking comes from the David Vandyke stable, and they don’t often take long to break maiden grades.
Having Ryan Maloney in the saddle is ideal and it could pay to follow betting markets on race day.
Race 2. (14:52) Advanced Buildings Maiden (1350m)
#1 – Capital Girl – Bet @ Sportsbet
Capital Girl was only fair on debut at Doomben when running fifth, but she will be better for the experience.
The three-year-old had looked good at the trials prior to the debut run, and getting a 2kg claimer in the saddle only helps her chances.
Barrier two is another positive, and we’re expecting her to be right in the thick of the finish.
Race 3. (15:27) Pattersons Build Group BM70 (1650m)
#1 – Montez – Bet @ Sportsbet
The Brosnan-trained five-year-old owns six wins and seven placings from 26 starts, so consistency is a strong point.
He is unbeaten in two starts at the distance, and although beaten by Spanish Point last time out, he will appreciate the drop in distance.
Jaden Lloyd taking 3kg off his back helps.
Race 4. (16:02) Steamatic Maiden (1650m)
#1 – Regal Edition – Bet @ Sportsbet
Regal Edition is looking to cap off three consecutive placings with a win. The Kelly Schweida-trained son of Rubick was only a short margin behind them last start, so that form looks good.
The four-year-old has been steadily improving throughout his career and it shouldn’t take him long to break maiden grades.
Barrier two is ideal and because this field is so talented, punters should get value odds.
Race 5. (16:37) John Lyng Group C3 Handicap (1200m)
#3 – Sir Warwick – Bet @ Sportsbet
Sir Warwick is in hot form after posting consecutive wins this preparation. The four-year-old scored narrowly at Eagle Farm on both occasions, and he had to fight bravely.
The son of Written Tycoon is a three-time winner from eight starts, and getting the inside draw is ideal.
Punters could get value odds on race day, so include.
Race 6. (17:12) Morse Building Consultant R68 (1350m)
#12 – Merimee – Bet @ Sportsbet
Merimee is searching for three consecutive wins after winning at Eagle Farm and Doomben.
The Chris Waller-trained three-year-old won by 1.5 lengths as an odds-on favourite last start, which backed up a 2.8-length win.
Dropping to 54kg is ideal and punters can never discount a Waller-trained runner against this level of opposition.
Race 7. (17:47) Paynters C1 Handicap (1110m)
#12 – Fetch – Bet @ Sportsbet
The three-year-old filly couldn’t have been more impressive on debut when scoring by 3.8 lengths at Grafton.
It was a one-sided outing, and she has been primed with three trials. The form stacks up beautifully, so punters shouldn’t expect big odds.
Look for a market push on race day.
