Doomben horse racing tips & form

Race 1. (12:33) Spring Carnival on Sale Maiden (1660m)

#9 – Malibu Blaze – Bet @ Sportsbet

Chris Waller lines up the four-year-old mare that has gone close in two starts to date. She owns two placings from two starts, and punters will likely need to take short odds.

Her most recent placing at Ipswich came as a $1.75 favourite, and we wouldn’t be surprised if she went one better.

Barrier two is ideal and she won’t take long to break through.

Race 2. (13:08) Cascade Maiden Handicap (1200m)

#10 – Sooblond – Bet @ Sportsbet

Another runner knocking on the door of a win is Sooblond, who owns two second placings from as many starts.

The Natalie McCall-trained three-year-old ran second on debut at Sunshine Coast before placing at Doomben behind Frosty Mango.

We like that form going forward and with only 55.5kg on her back, she should go close.

Race 3. (13:43) XXXX Dry C1 Handicap (1200m)

#8 – Frosty Mango – Bet @ Sportsbet

Frosty Mango ran second on debut before beating Sooblond last time out. That form could get franked, and she looks like a nice type in the making.

The Tony Gollan-trained daughter of Hinchinbrook sat on the pace and showed a good kick in the straight, which is a nice asset to have.

Jim Byrne rides and punters could get each-way odds.

Race 4. (14:18) Country Music C1 Handicap (1660m)

#1 – Aeecee Sacred – Bet @ Sportsbet

Aeecee Sacred showed enough during his first preparation to warrant attention at this level. He scored his maiden win at Gold Coast before running solid races.

He has prepared for this run with a trial at Gold Coast and they don’t often need much fitness from the Waller stable.

Barrier three is ideal and it could pay to watch late betting moves.

Race 5. (14:53) Sky Racing BM70 (1660m)

#3 – Montez – Bet @ Sportsbet

Montez already owns two wins from three starts this preparation and he’s capable of adding another win to his record.

The five-year-old gelding is a past winner on a soft track and he scored by 1.8 lengths last start, which is a good form guide for this contest.

Jaden Lloyd takes 3kg off his back, so put him on top.

Race 6. (15:28) Cairns Amateurs Carnival C4 (1200m)

#9 – Red Rubi – Bet @ Sportsbet

Barrier 15 isn’t going to help Red Rubi, but she is shooting for her fourth consecutive win. The four-year-old won narrowly at Sunshine Coast last start and she’s in career-best form.

She showed a fine turn-of-foot last start, and we think that will win her plenty more races. The confidence is up, and he only needs from the wide draw.

Race 7. (16:03) Spirit of Boom BM65 (1350m)

#6 – Hamlet Von Snitzel – Bet @ Sportsbet

Hamlet Von Snitzel disappointed at Doomben last start but that run was too bad to be true.

The McCall-trained runner had won his previous two races at Rockhampton and Doomben before the poor run, so the class is there.

A chance in tactics could suit but we wouldn’t be surprised to see him push forward again.

Race 7. (16:38) Tab Venue Mode BM65 (1110m)

#10 – A River Somewhere – Bet @ Sportsbet

The Gollan-trained five-year-old owns two wins and two placings from five starts, which is an impressive early record.

She scored easily by 3.3 lengths last start at Doomben, and she’s capable of repeating the dose on Wednesday.

Barrier 14 hurts, but she should go close with luck.
