Doomben horse racing tips & form
Race 1. (13:43) Turner Freeman Lawyers BM65 (1350m)
#4 – Merimee – Bet @ Sportsbet
The Chris Waller-trained three-year-old comes off an impressive win at Eagle Farm and she showed an impressive turn-of-foot to win.
She settled back and hit the line nicely to score by 2.8 lengths, which suggests she could rise through the grades in fine style.
Jim Byrne rides and having a senior jockey on board helps.
Race 2. (14:18) Windsor Brokers Maiden (1350m)
#4 – Not a Choice – Bet @ Sportsbet
The four-year-old mare owns two placings from five starts, but that was a nice effort for third at Eagle Farm last time out.
She looked likely to go past them, but hit the wall late. However, with the run under her belt, she should be ready to fire here.
Punters should follow any positive betting moves.
Race 3. (14:53) Electrical Trades Union C4 (1200m)
#3 – Able Mabel – Bet @ Sportsbet
The five-year-old mare owns four wins from eight starts, including a win at Sunshine Coast two starts back.
She scored by a half-length before running fifth at Eagle Farm, which was a better run than it looked. She has also scored a win at Doomben, so the track won’t do her any harm.
Barrier two is ideal and the daughter of Spirit of Boom looks the toughest to beat in this race.
Race 4. (15:28) CFMEU Branch Maiden (1350m)
#10 – Volunteer – Bet @ Sportsbet
It always pays to keep an eye on the Waller-trained runners and he comes off back-to-back third placings last preparation.
The four-year-old son of War Chant finished four lengths behind the winner last start, but his recent trial win at Gold Coast is a good sign.
Barrier 12 won’t make it easy, but he’s a runner worth following.
Race 5. (16:03) CFMEU Mining & Energy C3 (1640m)
#4 – Tycoon Bella – Bet @ Sportsbet
Tycoon Bella has rattled off four consecutive placings and she comes off an impressive second placing at Sunshine Coast.
The daughter of Written Tycoon was only one length behind the winner, and she is a two-time winner, so the class is there.
Ryan Maloney takes the ride and punters should get each-way odds.
Race 6. (16:38) Bert/Clip C1 Plate (1050m)
#6 – Deep Rouge – Bet @ Sportsbet
Deep Rouge finished sixth on debut at Scone before breaking through for her maiden win at Narromine.
The four-year-old mare didn’t handle the short-course distance on debut when racing over 900m. However, rising to 1050m looks ideal for this race.
Getting the inside draw is ideal and punters should get value odds.
Race 7. (17:13) QLD Council of Unions BM70 (1350m)
#2 – Dominarcher – Bet @ Sportsbet
Dominarcher is gunning for four consecutive wins after scoring at Doomben fresh up by a nose.
The Billy Healy-trained son of Golden Archer owns three wins and a placing from five starts, so he hasn’t done much wrong to date.
He likes the ride the speed and he shouldn’t have much trouble finding the front from barrier four.
