Eagle Farm horse racing tips
—
Race 1. (12:53) Happy Easter Handicap (1400m)
#6 – Secret Tales @ $2.80 – Bet @ Sportsbet
Secret Tales improved significantly to win at Gold Coast last start and it came by an incredible 18 lengths.
She was taking on an average field of five runners in wet conditions, but punters had to be impressed with the effort.
$2.80 is a much better price than the $1.35 available last time out.
Race 2. (13:28) Tab Venue Mode BM78 (2200m)
#2 – Joymaker @ $2.90 – Bet @ Sportsbet
Joymaker comes off an impressive win at Eagle Farm and if they go quickly up front, that will play right into her hands.
The five-year-old mare gets back in the race and storms home with style, so her chances all depend on the pace of the race.
Three of her six wins have come at Eagle Farm, so expect another big effort.
Race 3. (14:07) Sky Racing BM72 (1200m)
#8 – Clearance Sale @ $2.60 – Bet @ Sportsbet
The three-year-old owns two wins and two placings from five starts, so he has made an impressive start to this career.
He was good enough to score back-to-back wins last preparation and his recent trial effort at Gold Coast was good.
Barrier four is ideal and carrying 55kg helps.
Race 4. (14:47) Stradbroke Season BM72 (1200m)
#3 – Ingear @ $3.40 – Bet @ Sportsbet
Ingear didn’t enjoy the heavy conditions last start but punters should expect to see a better performance on Saturday.
The four-year-old mare is talented at best and her three wins from 13 starts have all been outstanding efforts.
$3.40 is worth taking against this even field.
Race 5. (15:27) QLD Guineas Day 1 Quality (1200m)
#3 – Gotta Kiss @ $3.40 – Bet @ Sportsbet
Gotta Kiss hasn’t quite lived up to expectations this preparation but she is talented at best.
The three-year-old has figured in the finish in nine of her 12 career starts and she has yet to finish worse than second at Eagle Farm.
The longer straight helps and it should give her time to warm up.
Race 6. (16:07) Derby Day C3 Plate (1400m)
#1 – Alpendurada @ $4.40 – Bet @ Sportsbet
Aplendurada has enjoyed racing at Eagle Farm his last two starts, including a win and a second placing.
The Robert Heathcote-trained gelding won by 1.3 lengths two starts back before battling on stoutly last time out.
He meets an even field and he could take advantage.
Race 7. (16:47) Oaks Day BM90 (1400m)
#2 – Wren’s Day @ $3 – Bet @ Sportsbet
The seven-year-old comes off an impressive 1.8-length win at Eagle Farm and we’re expecting that form to hold up nicely.
He is only a lightly-tried type with 17 starts for four wins and six placings. His form stacks up nicely for this level of racing and the 3kg claim is ideal.
We liked the way he hit the line last start, so expect more top-quality performances.
Race 8. (17:23) Stradbroke Day C6 Handicap (1600m)
#4 – Walking Flying @ $4.40 – Bet @ Sportsbet
It took some time but Walking Flying got back to winning form at Doomben last time out.
The five-time winner is now unbeaten in heavy conditions and the daughter of Tavistock has faced much harder fields than this.
Having Robbie Fradd in the saddle is ideal and he should get the best out of this mare.
Race 9. (18:02) BRC TV C6 Handicap (1000m)
#7 – Le Palmier @ $4.40 – Bet @ Sportsbet
Le Palmier is a professional type that owns four wins from 15 starts and one of those wins came on this track last year.
The son of Spirit of Boom looked solid in a recent trial at Doomben and that should top him off nicely for this contest.
Punters get value odds and with only 55kg on his back, he should be right in the mix.
