Race 1. (11:58) Family Raceday on Sale Now Maiden (1000m)
#1 – Mista Omega @ $2.05 – Bet @ PlayUp
Mista Omega is getting close to breaking through after posting two consecutive placings at Sunshine Coast and Doomben.
The four-year-old was only two lengths behind the winner last start and anything close to that form should be good enough.
Dropping 1.5kg is another positive.
Race 2. (12:33) XXXX Dry Maiden (1200m)
#4 – Majorelle @ $3 – Bet @ PlayUp
Majorelle is another runner getting close to a win after posting three consecutive placings.
The Kacy Fogden-trained son of Zoustar wasn’t far away when finishing third at Ipswich last start in wet conditions. Getting back onto a firm track should do his chances some good.
We expect money to come for him off the inside draw.
Race 3. (13:08) Racecourse Village Maiden (1200m)
#2 – Bulikov @ $6.50 – Bet @ PlayUp
Bulikov did enough on debut to warrant attention and the son of Deep Field is a strong winning hope.
The Robert Heathcote-trained colt came into his debut run with two trial wins under his belt and it was a good opening hit-out.
He’s more experienced now and the best bet in this race.
Race 4. (13:43) Mekka Races on Sale Now BM68 (1400m)
#7 – Ma Ma’s Rose @ $16 – Bet @ PlayUp
Ma Ma’s Rose didn’t fire at Sunshine Coast fresh up but her form during her first campaign can’t be ignored.
She won on debut at Ipswich before running third at Sunshine Coast and fifth at Gold Coast. We’re prepared to give her another chance with a senior rider in the saddle.
Watch for late betting moves.
Race 5. (14:18) Sky Racing Maiden (1400m)
#1 – Landsborough Lad @ $2.60 – Bet @ PlayUp
Landsborough Lad looks to cap off three consecutive second placings with a win and we’re in his camp.
The four-year-old son of Headwater was a $2 chance to win at Ipswich last time out and we expect similar odds this time around.
Barrier six is ideal and this race is there for the taking.
Race 6. (14:53) Eureka Stud BM68 (1000m)
#9 – Better Rush @ $23 – Bet @ PlayUp
Better Rush looked good when winning at Sunshine Coast last start and we like her chances of going back-to-back.
The mare by More than Ready is a three-time winner at the distance and her 2.3-length win last start suggests she can handle the rise in class.
Barrier three is ideal and each-way odds should be available.
Race 7. (15:28) Country Music on Sale BM68 (1500m)
#5 – Ghostwriter @ $4.20 – Bet @ PlayUp
Ghostwriter is another gelding knocking on the door after three consecutive placings and he’s talented at his best.
The son of I Am Invincible went down fighting as the $1.40 favourite at Gold Coast last start and punters are getting better odds this time around.
We can’t see him staying in this grade for too much longer.
Race 8. (16:03) Tab Venue Mode C5 Handicap (1200m)
#5 – Jetty @ $21 – Bet @ PlayUp
Jetty hasn’t been the easiest horse to follow throughout his career but he could offer some value.
The four-year-old is a two-time winner fresh up and he loves racing at Eagle Farm with seven starts for a win and five placings.
Barrier 13 is our only worry but he could finish over the top.
Race 9. (16:35) Cascade C2 Handicap (1800m)
#1 – Sir William Bruce @ $3.50 – Bet @ PlayUp
The Tony Gollan-trained runner is getting close to scoring after two solid efforts this preparation.
He ran second at Sunshine Coast last start and the form out of that contest should stack up nicely in this company.
He shouldn’t take long to win.
