Eagle Farm horse racing tips

Race 1. (11:29) Tab Venue Mode BM80 (1810m)

#4 – Prince of Arragon @ $3.70 – Bet @ Sportsbet

Prince of Arragon is shooting for his fourth consecutive win and we wouldn’t be ruling him out.

The four-year-old gelding was too strong for them late at Doomben and that win should prepare him for another quality effort.

Craig Williams rides and this field is there for the taking.

Race 2. (12:04) Authentic Security The Phoenix (1500m)

#9 – Volcanic Rock @ $3.60 – Bet @ Sportsbet

The Waterhouse/Bott-trained gelding comes off a second placing at Rosehill and form behind Overmann should stack up nicely.

He is a talented son of Hinchinbrook that has been well-backed to win and it’s another good ride for Craig Williams, who is a quality rider.

Barrier four is ideal and the $3.60 is a value price.

Race 3. (12:39) Captain Morgan Tropical Quality (1300m)

#8 – Tumbler Ridge @ $7.50 – Bet @ Sportsbet

Tumbler Ridge scored a 1.3-length win at Doomben two starts back and although beaten last start, it has potential.

The three-year-old colt gets in with only 54kg on his back and that could turn the tables on his most recent effort.

$7.50 is well worth taking and he could score an upset victory.

Race 4. (13:14) Grinders Coffee Lightning Handicap (1000m)

#1 – Usmanov @ $2.45 – Bet @ Sportsbet

Coming off a win at Gold Coast is Usmanov, which loved the conditions to sprint clear in the concluding stages.

The Edmonds-trained five-year-old scored his eighth career win from 23 starts and two of them have come at Eagle Farm.

We’re not surprised at the money coming for him with bookmakers and he should go close.

Race 5. (13:53) Ascot Green Moreton Cup (1200m)

#8 – Varda @ $4.60 – Bet @ Sportsbet

Varda sprinted late to win at Doomben last time out and staying down in the weights should give her every chance to win.

The four-year-old mare is a daughter of Lonhro that defeated a similar field and punters are once again getting value odds.

Barrier two and 53.5kg is ideal, so we’re expecting another top effort.

Race 6. (14:33) Nuturf Spear Chief Handicap (1500m)

#9 – Goldifox @ $9.50 – Bet @ Sportsbet

Goldifox comes off two second placings from her last three starts and she deserves a winning turn.

The former Melbourne-based mare is only a three-time winner, but she is getting close to a win and having Williams in the saddle helps.

She gets an inside barrier with a light weight, so punters should be happy to take the value odds.

Race 7. (15:13) Magic Millions National Classic (1600m)

#5 – Nudge @ $5 – Bet @ Sportsbet

Nudge scored an overdue win at Doomben and the four-year-old mare is easily capable of winning more races.

The Chris Waller-trained daughter of Fastnet Rock has competed against some tough fields throughout her career and this is no harder.

Her odds have firmed throughout the week and that’s not a surprise, so expect more money to come her way.

Race 9. (16:29) Nova 106.9 Queensland Day Stakes (1200m)

#11 – Kisukano @ $4 – Bet @ Sportsbet

The Nolan-trained three-year-old got back to her best when winning at Doomben and she’s capable of winning again.

She is a professional seven-time winner from 16 starts and two of those wins have come at Eagle Farm, which is a positive.

$4 is a fair price and she should give punters a good sight in front.
