Eagle Farm horse racing tips
Race 1. (13:18) Memberships @ BRC C3 Plate (1500m)
#5 – La Jument @ $3.10 – Bet Now
The six-year-old took its time getting to the races, but he has made a good impression to date. He won both starts this year, including a 1.8-length win last start.
Both wins have come on rain-affected tracks, but he’s a quality son of Fastnet Rock that shouldn’t be underestimated.
He’s entitled to get tired soon but stick with him until he shows otherwise.
Race 2. (13:57) XXXX Dry Handicap (1400m)
#7 – Ursula @ $17 – Bet Now
Two-year-old filly Ursula scored a comfortable win at Armidale last start, which should hold her in good stead for this race.
The daughter of Panzer Division capped off two placings to start her career, and although she’s facing a harder task here, she could measure up.
She’s worth including at odds.
Race 3. (14:37) Souths Sports Club BM75 (2425m)
#3 – Kellstorm @ $9.50 – Bet Now
It has been a while between drinks for Kellstorm, but he’s a six-time winner that has won over $260,000.
The Kris Lees-trained stayer has been knocking on the door against moderate opposition, and he shouldn’t find this too much harder.
It’s an open field and we wouldn’t be ruling out his chances of winning.
Race 4. (15:17) Tulloch House BM70 (1000m)
#9 – Winning Shot @ $3.60 – Bet Now
The three-year-old filly has won three of her six career starts, which is a good record. She is a daughter of Shooting to Win, which owns two wins over this distance.
Stuart Kendrick has a good opinion of this runner and carrying 55.5kg is only going to help her chances. We’re expecting bookmakers to have her firm in the market.
Race 5. (16:00) Gallopers Sports Club Handicap (1500m)
#2 – The Avenger @ $26 – Bet Now
This race could be a battle of the Chris Waller-trained runners, and The Avenger looks the best of them.
The six-year-old owns seven wins and 11 placings, so his class can’t be ignored, despite poor recent form.
There are no superstars in this field and off the inside draw, he looks a strong bet.
Race 6. (16:42) Ascot Green Handicap (1000m)
#1 – Jagged Edge @ $10 – Bet Now
Jagged Edge is a three-time winner which is much better than what he showed last start. It’s best to go on his form prior, which included a win at Sunshine Coast and a placing at Eagle Farm.
That placing came behind Exondabeach, which looks a nice type in the making. Getting the inside draw is ideal and it should provide punters with some value.
Race 7. (17:18) Moet & Chandon Chairman’s Club (1600m)
#2 – Star of Michelin @ $2.90 – Bet Now
There is plenty of ability with Star of Michelin, which ran on stoutly behind Ballistic Boy last start.
The son of Jet Spur has two wins from six starts, including back-to-back wins on this track. That form looks good for this race and although drawn a touch wide, he should go close.
A good guide will be the bookmakers early odds.
Race 8. (17:55) TAB BM80 (1845m)
#3 – Akage @ $13 – Bet Now
Akage isn’t the most consistent runner going around, but she always runs best at Eagle Farm. She has two wins and three placings on this track, including a win two starts back.
She showed a good turn-of-foot on that occasion and that’s the secret to her success. She’s best when ridden off the speed and she can come with one last run at them.
Each-way odds should be available.
Race 9. (18:30) Eva Air C6 Plate (1200m)
#7 – Langhro @ $5.50 – Bet Now
Langhro is a two-time fresh up winner and he could start this campaign in similar fashion. The Steven O’Dea-trained gelding has had an interrupted career but he’s classy at best.
He has had 16 starts for five wins and five placings. There’s nothing wrong with that record and we’re confident of his chances on Saturday.
