Eagle Farm horse racing tips
Race 1. (11:34) Oscar Oscar Salons C6 Plate (1400m)
#10 – Fashchanel @ $2.45 – Bet @ Sportsbet
Fashchanel comes off back-to-back wins at Randwick and that form bodes well for Queensland racing.
The John O’Shea-trained four-year-old is a two-time winner at this distance and with four wins from 12 starts overall, she has quality.
54kg is ideal and having Jamie Kah in the saddle helps.
Race 2. (12:09) Led Super Screens BM85 (1200m)
#9 – Superium @ $3.60 – Bet @ Sportsbet
Superium comes off three consecutive placings, including one at Doomben last time out.
The Sydney-based son of Verrazano owns three wins from 18 starts, but he should have won more often than that.
Getting the inside barrier is ideal and punters get value odds.
Race 3. (12:44) Mullins Lawyers Fred Best Classic (1400m)
#9 – Ayrton @ $1.65 – Bet @ Sportsbet
Ayrton is heading for the big time after scoring three impressive victories. The unbeaten three-year-old gelding comes off a 1.3-length win at Caulfield and he deserves to be the short-priced favourite.
The son of Iffraaj has Group 1 racing on the agenda next start and this looks like a good stepping stone.
Expect a big effort and although $1.65 is short, we wouldn’t leave him off our ticket.
Race 4. (13:19) Sky Racing’s Lord Mayor’s Cup (1800m)
#2 – Quick Thinker @ $15 – Bet @ Sportsbet
The former Derby winner won the Chairman’s over 2600m last start at Randwick, but he can handle the drop in distance.
A five-time winner from 18 starts, Quick Thinker is a versatile type that should appreciate Eagle Farm and it will give him time to warm up in the straight.
Punters get lovely double-figure odds and he should give a good sight.
Race 5. (13:58) Brisbane 2032 Premier’s Cup (2400m)
#6 – Rondinella @ $5 – Bet @ Sportsbet
Rondinella deserves a win after posting consecutive second placings behind the likes of Quick Thinker and Selino.
Dropping in distance after running in the Sydney Cup isn’t a problem and the former Kiwi is knocking on the door of a big win.
She has a nice turn-of-foot and we’re expecting a big effort.
Race 6. (14:38) James Squire Sires’ Produce (1400m)
#3 – Prince of Boom @ $4.20 – Bet @ Sportsbet
Prince of Boom went boom last start when remaining unbeaten after two starts. The talented two-year-old is capable of handling this level of racing and he just needs luck from the draw.
Ranch Hand won’t be easy to get past, but his 2.5-length win at Doomben is ideal and if he can find the back of one going forward, watch for him late.
$4.20 is a fair price from bookmakers.
Race 9. (16:34) M M Helen Coughlan Stakes (1200m)
#10 – Lyre @ $7.50 – Bet @ Sportsbet
Lyre isn’t having much luck this season and although she was average last start, dropping from Group 1 level could make the difference.
The four-year-old daughter of Lonhro looked better when running second at Caulfield two back and this is her favourite distance.
Barrier 19 doesn’t help, but Jamie Kah rides and she could work her magic from the outskirts of the track.
