Eagle Farm horse racing tips

Race 1. (12:18) Tab C3 Plate (1000m)

#1 – Iolite @ $4 – Bet @ Sportsbet

Iolite could make it back-to-back wins after scoring at Sunshine Coast by two lengths fresh up.

The four-year-old son of Bel Esprit is a three-time winner from five starts, including two at this distance.

He has drifted since opening at $3.80, but we expect money to come for the favourite on race day.

Race 2. (12:53) Widden Basil Nolan 2YO Plate (1000m)

#3 – Palazzo Spirit @ $2.15 – Bet @ Sportsbet

Palazzo Spirit looked good at the trials when winning at Doomben by three lengths, and that form bodes well on debut.

The two-year-old son of Spirit of Boom has been heavily backed after opening at $2.40, which is a good sign for the well-bred type.

We would be surprised if his current odds didn’t firm to an odds-on price.

Race 3. (13:28) Lexus 2YO Plate (1000m)

#9 – Shalook @ $3.90 – Bet @ Sportsbet

Shalook ran second in a recent trial at Doomben. The Kacy Fogden-trained filly by Shalaa is nicely bred, and she’s worth following.

This stable knows how to get its juveniles ready to fire, so it could pay to follow any positive betting moves on race day.

$3.90 is a fair price given the risk.

Race 4. (14:03) All Stone Specialists Handicap (1000m)

#2 – Tiger Heart @ $3.50 – Bet @ Sportsbet

Tiger Heart scored back-to-back wins at Doomben and Sunshine Coast before running 13th behind Tiger of Malay in the Sires Produce.

His win at Sunshine Coast came by over two lengths behind a smart type, so it’s a good form guide, and this is much easier.

He looks like a nice type in the making, so stick with him.

Race 5. (14:42) The Montague West End BM75 (1805m)

#7 – Aswaat @ $5 – Bet @ Sportsbet

The Robert Heathcote-trained mare scored consecutive wins before placing at Gold Coast last start, which is ideal form.

She won by 1.8 lengths at Eagle Farm two back before running a length behind Spanish Point and Montez last start. That form has stacked up nicely since, so put her on top.

Race 6. (15:22) Harrisons Menswear BM72 (1400m)

#9 – Danezel @ $4.80 – Bet @ Sportsbet

Danezel scored impressively by three lengths last start at Doomben, and although yet to race at Eagle Farm, his form bodes well.

The five-year-old should be fitter for two runs back from a spell, and getting a 2kg claimer in the saddle should help.

Punters get each-way odds.

Race 7. (16:02) Nudgee College Old Boy’s Cup (1400m)

#2 – Apache Chase @ $2.25 – Bet @ Sportsbet

Apache Chase is a professional six-time winner, and five of those wins have come at Eagle Farm.

The track specialist hit his stride fresh up at Toowoomba, and winning against open-class company fresh up isn’t easy to do.

$2.25 is a price worth considering.

Race 8. (16:38) XXXX Queensland Cup (2406m)

#3 – Navy Cross @ $3.90 – Bet @ Sportsbet

Navy Cross pushed forward last start and never gave the rest of the field a chance to run him down.

The five-year-old held on to score by a length over 2200m, and rising in distance should do his chances any harm.

Carrying 54kg is ideal and he could try the same tactics again.

Race 9. (17:18) Story Bridge Hotel BM80 (1200m)

#9 – Ingear @ $2.50 – Bet @ Sportsbet

Ingear got back to winning form at Eagle Farm last start with a narrow win at Eagle Farm.

The five-year-old mare runs her best races at Eagle Farm, including three wins and three placings from nine starts.

Dropping to 54kg is ideal and punters should always expect short odds for this runner.
