It was a great Saturday with Group 1 action, but now the attention moves to the midweek cards.
Sandown and Warwick Farm host quality betting cards this Wednesday and we have found our best tips with full form.
The autumn carnival is kicking into gear and many of these midweek types will be heading for Saturday grade.
Warwick Farm free tips & form
Race 1. (13:45) Maiden Plate (1200m)
#3 – Dio D’oro @ $5 – BET NOW
The Gary Portelli-trained runner is coming off a tough run at Rosehill behind Golden Slipper fancy Performer but is dropping right back in grade.
He’s a quality two-year-old colt which finished second on debut on this track and punters shouldn’t take much away from his last start performance.
Drawing barrier 11 will likely force him to settle back and come with a big late finish.
Race 3. (14:55) Tab BM73 (1100m)
#1 – Sheikha @ $3.20 – BET NOW
Sheikha is second-up having finished third at Rosehill last start.
The Waterhouse/Bott-trained filly has been around the mark her entire career, which included a maiden win at Warwick Farm.
That winning experience on this track is key and she has plenty of improvement left in her this season.
The small field is ideal and although she’s drifting in the market, we’re expecting the late money to come for her.
Race 5. (16:15) Bowerman’s Furniture BM75 (1600m)
#2 – Aquatic @ $2.15 – BET NOW
Chris Waller lines up recent winner Aquatic, which was too good for them at Canterbury on Friday night.
He’s on the quick-up which can work both ways, but we’re confident the four-year-old can produce his best again.
His 2.8-length win last start was quality and it capped off some consistent form. That included consecutive placings and the rise in distance was ideal.
Rising to the mile looks good here and he’s being well-backed to win.
Race 6. (16:50) Theraces BM70 (1100m)
#2 – Once More A Lady @ $2.20 – BET NOW
Once More A Lady was an impressive winner at Warwick Farm last start when flashing home to score.
The Joe Pride-trained four-year-old improved her record to two wins from 12 starts, but she might have turned the corner with her most recent win.
The daughter of Congrats capped off some solid trial form with the win and having that race fitness under her belt will help here.
Her opening odds of $2.45 has been smashed into $2.20 and they could drop even further.
Race 8. (18:05) Australian Turf Club BM78 (1400m)
#10 – Mahalangur @ $4 – BET NOW
Mahalangur is an enigmatic type, but he’s too good to leave out of calculations.
The Hawkes-trained colt was a winner on debut by 1.3 lengths at Newcastle and he looked to have a fair bit in hand.
His form since hasn’t quite been up to that level, but he’s yet to race against his own level of opposition. The same goes for this race, but he’s ideally weighted at 53kg and that should take him close.
Brenton Avdulla sticks with him which is a good sign and we’ll continue to ride with this runner until he pays us off.
Sandown free tips & form
Race 1. (18:00) Spicer Thoroughbreds (1200m)
#1 – All Too Handy @ $2.60 – BET NOW
Money is starting to come for this two-year-old filly which has been close in two race day starts.
The Darren Weir-trained filly ran third on debut at Ballarat before going with 1.4 lengths of the winner at Moonee Valley last start.
That form should stack up nicely against her opposition and the money coming for her is a good sign.
Ben Allen will get the perfect run on her from barrier two and we’re expecting a good effort.
Race 2. (18:30) Polytrack Maiden (1300m)
#7 – Whoomph @ $4 – BET NOW
Whoomph made good ground at Pakenham last start after getting too far off the pace.
The Corstens-trained colt finished third of nine runners behind Call Me Loyal and although he never looked like a winning hope, we were impressed with his finishing ability.
He has placed twice from four starts, including a second placing behind top three-year-old Royal Symphony at Flemington.
That form is strong and he’ll be better for the run under his belt this campaign.
Race 3. (19:00) Chandler MacLeod BM78 (2100m)
#1 – Etah James @ $2.25 – BET NOW
Etah James is a stayer on the rise and although she’s back in distance after running over 2800m last start, this distance might suit better.
Matt Cumani lines up the five-year-old which has won five of her eight career starts, including three consecutive wins late last year.
She has won over 1600m and 2000m in the past so the 2100m shouldn’t be an issue and there has been strong money for her all week.
Stephanie Thornton takes the ride and takes 3kg off her back.
Race 6. (20:30) Blue Star Print Group BM64 (1200m)
#6 – Spirit of Aquada @ $3.60 – BET NOW
That was a strong win from Spirit of Aquada last start and he could continue on with it now.
The three-year-old had been in maiden grades for his first seven starts, but he made a meal of them when winning by four lengths at Pakenham.
Prior to that he ran a strong third placing behind Twilight Song at Caulfield and that form has stacked up very well since.
His opening odds of $4.40 has been trimmed to $3.60 and that’s a sizable move in a field of this quality.
He looks a strong each way play.
