Flemington free tips & form
Race 1. (12:35) Derucci Trophy (1600m)
#6 – Remember The Name @ $3.80 – BET NOW
Becoming a little expensive since winning last campaign but it hasn’t taken on any easy field like this for some time.
The Danny O’Brien-trained runner has gone close in two starts to date from three starts but she’s going to get every chance from a good barrier and James McDonald in the saddle can only be seen as a positive.
Race 2. (13:10) Lawn BM84 (2000m)
#3 – Schabau @ $1.85 – BET NOW
Scratched from a race last Saturday but the imported runner looks better suited running at Flemington. The former German has now rattled off three consecutive wins, including one at Flemington where he scored by a neck on December 1.
He’s only a young four-year-old which has yet to finish outside of the first three and the odds-on money suggests that he’ll be around the mark again.
His opening quote of $3.10 has dropped to $1.85 and in quick time.
Race 4. (14:20) Talindart Stakes (1100m)
#1 – Microphone @ $3.90 – BET NOW
They weren’t quite singing his praises last start but he didn’t lose any admirers when running second behind Blue Diamond fancy I Am Immortal last time out at Caulfield.
The James Cummings-trained two-year-old is bred to show early speed and given that he gets the inside draw, that’s going to make him awfully tough to beat here.
$4.60 to $3.90 is a good price drop and we’re expecting more money to come.
Race 5. (14:55) Tab Vanity (1400m)
#2 – Verry Elleegant @ $8 – BET NOW
Former Kiwi which is now with Chris Waller and although a stable change won’t help, Waller is a more patient trainer than Darren Weir was – that’s going to help this three-year-old filly after an arduous campaign.
Fresh up and she usually needs a couple of runs to show her best but the long-distance targets of last preparation might have been too much for her.
Don’t worry about the draw as she likes to get back during the run.
Race 7. (16:10) CS Hayes Stakes (1400m)
#14 – Age of Chivalry @ $6.50 – BET NOW
This is an extremely tough field but Age of Chivalry has gone to a new level this campaign with back-to-back wins.
The son of He’s Remarkable won by 1.8 lengths at Sandown before backing that up with a half-length win at Sandown last time out. That’s good form and despite facing the rise in class, punters are getting some serious value.
Race 9. (17:30) Japan Racing Association Handicap (1400m)
#7 – Mask of Time @ $19 – BET NOW
We can’t quite believe we’re doing this but we’re picking Mask of Time to win over 1400m. The noted one-pacer stayer ran 10.3 lengths behind them at Ballarat last start but is there some support at odds and he could surprise at odds.
$19 is a fair price.
Randwick free tips and form
Race 1. (12:50) Pierro Plate (1100m)
#3 – Covert Ops @ $3.90 – BET NOW
Covert Ops has had one run for a placing behind Dubious and although that form hasn’t stacked up as well as expected, he has since won a trial at Rosehill.
The Gerald Ryan-trained son of I Am Invincible has shown his best performances at the trials, which can be a worry but it’s only a matter of time before he breaks through come race day.
Tricky draw but his talent should take him close.
Race 3. (14:05) Hunrun Report Cup BM78 (2400m)
#5 – Gayatri @ $2 – BET NOW
A winner of four from six, the Waller-trained four-year-old was just too good for them last time out and we could see a repeat of that performance coming here.
Hugh Bowman sticks with the mare by Pierro, which is a good sign and although she has drawn wide in barrier 12, Bowman could work his magic.
There is late money coming for him despite drifting a touch early.
Race 4. (14:40) Lunar New Year BM88 (1300m)
#10 – Diplomatico @ $2.70 – BET NOW
The Hawkes-trained three-year-old looked the goods when winning consecutive races last campaign against some smart types.
A colt by Snitzel, Diplomatico then took on Group 1 company in the Coolmore Stud Stakes when running eighth behind Sunlight but that came up too quickly for the colt and he’s better off suited against this level of opposition.
54kg on the back is a big bonus.
Race 5. (15:15) Southern Cross Stakes (1200m)
#9 – Brutal @ $1.85 – BET NOW
Brutal was scratched last week due to the rain-affected track but the unbeaten colt looks primed for this and he should be putting in a good effort.
He’s an unbeaten son of O’Reilly which gets in beautfilly on the weights at 53kg and that’s going to make him awfully tough to beat here.
Race 7. (16:30) Light Fingers Stakes (1200m)
#8 – Sylvia’s Mother @ $3.70 – BET NOW
We may have a real up-and-comer on our hands here after posting four wins from five starts. The Hawkes-trained filly scored emphatically by 1.3 lengths last start and she did it with ease.
She has now rattled off four consecutive wins and although none of them have been against this level of opposition, she has been patiently-handled and she could continue her progression.
Miss Fabulass is the big danger but she has had her problems so go with the value runner.
Race 9. (17:50) Chinese Festival of Racing BM88 (1600m)
#8 – Girl Tuesday @ $4.80 – BET NOW
Punters should forgive the run of Girl Tuesday last start as a the previously unbeaten mare faced a tough field and had no luck throughout the run.
She’s a well-bred mare by Street Cry x. Tuesday Joy which has plenty to live up to and getting barrier two is going to be ideal.
