We love midweek racing as punters get the chance to see the next rising stars of the Australian turf. There are plenty of quality thoroughbreds in action at Randwick and Sandown this Wednesday.
We have free tips and form for the best runners at both meetings.
Randwick free tips & form
Race 1. (13:35) Rise Up This Autumn Handicap (1400m)
#1 – Costas – BET NOW
Chris Waller lines up the three-year-old gelding which has had two starts for two placings. The son of Tavistock ran 6.6 lengths behind Diplomatico before improving to run second at Canterbury.
That was a much better performance and he has been primed with a recent trial placing at Rosehill.
Looks the hardest to beat in a field that doesn’t have much exposed form.
Race 2. (14:15) Tab Rewards Plate (1100m)
#2 – Classique Legend – BET NOW
We love the Les Bridge stable and he looks to have a nice juvenile on his hands here. The three-year-old gelding scored a trial by three lengths at Hawkesbury and that’s a good sign for this.
He’s bred to show early speed and we’re expecting bookmakers to open him at a short price, despite this field having some exciting prospects.
Race 3. (14:50) Events By ATC BM70 (1000m)
#3 – Royal Witness – BET NOW
Ran second behind a smart type in McCormack last time out and that form is going to hold up well at the midweek level.
The Joe Pride-trained three-year-old was a winner on this track three back when scoring by a nose and although he hasn’t won since, he has been around the mark.
Gets a good run from barrier four and it should be right around the mark.
Race 5. (16:05) Press Statement @ Vinery BM76 (1550m)
#6 – Desert Lord – BET NOW
Well-bred four-year-old which is looking to go back-to-back after winning at Randwick last time out by 1.8 lengths.
The Hawkes-trained son of High Chaparral has the breeding to rise through the grades and now with some confidence under his belt, he could kick on with it.
Gets an inside draw and he should be able to pick a path through the field in the straight.
Race 6. (16:45) Bowermans Furniture BM70 (1400m)
#2 – Bubbles’n’troubles – BET NOW
Form doesn’t appear that good but she ran against some nice types during her first campaign and could resume with a top effort here.
The Waller-trained filly has been primed with a recent trial win at Warwick Farm and she scored fresh up on debut last preparation.
She should be able to find some cover from a tricky draw and hit the line with purpose.
Race 7. (17:20) Australian Turf Club BM70 (1400m)
#4 – Rock – BET NOW
Team Hawkes lines up the last start winner which just got up on the line at Canterbury last start but it was a good effort.
The son of Pierro will grow from that effort and that’s a good sign going forward. He backed up a solid second placing in the Magic Millions Maiden and the form out of that race has stacked up nicely.
Nice chance and it should be well backed on the day.
Sandown free tips and form
Race 1. (16:00) Ladbrokes Enhanced Odds Handicap (1400m)
#1 – Game Keeper – BET NOW
Scored a good win at Sandown last time out and he faces a similar field here. The Tony McEvoy-trained two-year-old has good experience with three starts and that’s going to help here.
Drawing barrier six is a touch tricky but the son of Fastnet Rock will likely settle back as he did last time out and come with a big burst late.
Race 2. (16:30) Ladbrokes Maiden Plate (1600m)
#9 – Ronan’s Rock – BET NOW
Backed and beaten in all four starts where he has started shorter than $3.60 on all four occasions, but he’s getting closer to a win and it could come here.
Lindsay Park had a big opinion of the son of Fastnet Rock and he wasn’t far behind them when running second at Pakenham last start, but he needs to beat this field to prove his worth.
Drawn to get the best run and Damien Oliver sticks with him.
Race 4. (17:30) Ladbrokes Cash In BM64 (1000m)
#2 – Ray’s Dream – BET NOW
Ray’s Dream has won only once from seven starts but she’s highly regarded by the stable and punters alike.
She started at $2.25 and $1.90 in two starts last campaign and although she didn’t win, she wasn’t too far behind them.
She has faced the likes of Sunlight and Multaja, so she should find this level of opposition more to her liking.
Race 6. (18:30) Ladbrokes Odds Boost BM64 (1800m)
#5 – Future Score – BET NOW
European import which ran fairly when sixth at Pakenham last start but he’s only going to get over more distance and the 1800m looks ideal here.
He was a winner over 1614m last year and that form usually stacks up at the midweek level against a moderate BM64 field.
