Caulfield and Canterbury host quality midweek meetings this Wednesday and we have free tips, form and odds for the best races.
Midweek racing gives punters a great chance to line their pockets with some cash for the weekend and we’re excited about the fields on offer this Wednesday in Australia.
Canterbury free tips & form
Race 2. (13:35) Rewards Maiden Plate (1200m)
#6 – Ridicule @ $2.25 – BET NOW
The Brad Widdup-trained three-year-old hasn’t had an easy introduction to the racing world but has run well.
Having placed in her first two runs, the daughter of So You Think looks ready to win and her form behind the likes of Memento and Swaffham Bulbeck should stack up nicely.
There isn’t as much depth to this race and she should get every chance from the inside draw with Corey Brown riding at the light weight.
Race 3. (14:15) Theraces BM72 (1550m)
#3 – Angel’s Boy @ $4.20 – BET NOW
Punters are getting good odds for this last start winner from the Waterhouse/Bott stables.
The three-year-old gelding by Snitzel scored by just under a length at Newcastle earlier this month and his form prior included close-up finishes behind some nice types.
He finished third behind Malahat on debut before again running third at Newcastle behind Bull Market.
That’s strong form and we can only see his starting odds shortening.
Race 4. (14:50) Tab BM74 (1550m)
#5 – Danzie @ $1.60 – BET NOW
Punters will have to muster the courage to take the short odds around Danzie, but he should be winning this in style.
The Bjorn Baker-trained gelding finished third behind Onslaught at Randwick last start and that came after he posted a 1.5-length victory at Warwick Farm.
He has yet to finish outside of the placings from five career starts and he’s drawn to get all favours from barrier two.
$1.60 is short, but he should be able to boost multi-bet payouts.
Race 5. (15:25) Bowermans Furniture BM77 (1100m)
#4 – Spending to Win @ $3.20 – BET NOW
Spending to Win was a touch unlucky not to win last time out behind Viceroy, but he should be better for the run.
The Peter and Paul Snowden-trained four-year-old has won only one of his 12 starts, but he has placed on nine occasions and that consistency makes him easy to follow.
He has been knocking on the door of posting another win for some time now and this looks his best chance to break through.
Race 8. (17:20) Australian Turf Club BM77 (1100m)
#1 – Serene Miss @ $3.60 – BET NOW
Serene Miss opened at $4.40 and that price has already been smashed and rightfully so.
The Kris Lees-trained mare was unbeaten after her first three starts before putting in a bad run last start at Canterbury, but she has been given a break since and she won a trial at Newcastle to prepare.
The quality mare was a 1.8-length winner on this track in November and any form close to that effort will take her close in this.
Caulfield free tips & form
Race 1. (18:00) Spicer Thoroughbreds Handicap (1200m)
#7 – Nasaayim @ $2.25 – BET NOW
We thought Nasaayim would be shorter in the market following her stunning victory at Ballarat, but we’ll take the value on offer.
The Lindsay Park-trained two-year-old won by 2.3 lengths against a field of only five, but she finished second at Flemington prior to that and that form should be good for midweek level.
Look for jockey Mark Zahra to take her forward again and she won’t have much problem getting there from barrier two.
Race 2. (18:30) Dream Thoroughbreds Maiden (1600m)
#6 – Mujaadil @ $3.70 – BET NOW
Darren Weir lines up Mujaadil and current favourite Sopressa, but we fancy Mujaadil at the better price.
The three-year-old colt made good ground from midfield at Sandown last start and to finish within a half-length of Icehunt was a good performance.
He’s bred to be speedy over these distances and he will only get better with time and more racing under the belt.
He’s drifting in the market, but he’s a live winning chance.
Race 5. (20:00) Clanbrooke Racing BM64 (1600m)
#1 – Lucky Cat @ $5.50 – BET NOW
Lucky Cat was a narrow winner on debut before running eighth at Caulfield, but she has bounced back well enough to be considered here.
The Weir-trained filly finished third behind the talented Paris Rock on this track last start and that form should hold up well throughout the autumn.
Carrying the big weight might not help her chances, but the big field should help and she could get a nice drag in behind the speed to launch late.
Race 7. (21:00) Nick Johnstone Real Estate BM64 (1200m)
#8 – Sirius Suspect @ $4.20 – BET NOW
Darren Weir lines up another quality midweek type with last start winner Sirius Suspect.
The son of Wanted led on debut at Ballarat before being run down late behind Indernile, but he quickly visited the winners’ enclosure at Kyneton when winning by 1.3 lengths.
The three-year-old looks to have plenty of scope and we wouldn’t be surprised to see him score another win at each way odds.
Race 8. (21:30) Ladbrokes BM64 (1440m)
#8 – Paret @ $4.40 – BET NOW
Paret didn’t show much at Randwick last start when running last in a field of five, but he’s better than that.
The Chris Waller-trained colt has since run second in a trial behind stakes-placed Shumookh and punters should derive plenty of confidence from that effort.
His win at Canterbury on debut is too good to look over and despite drifting in the market, we’re confident that he can get back to his best.
