Quality racing is always on show at Sandown and Randwick and we have free tips and form for the best races this Wednesday.
The Australian Autumn Carnival is about to hit top gear this weekend but punters can fill up their betting accounts with some winners at the midweek level.
Sandown free tips & form
Race 1. (16:00) Ladbrokes Multiverse Maiden (1200m)
#2 – Game Keeper @ $3 – BET NOW
There’s not much form in the opening race of the day but Game Keeper has plenty of upside after showing ability in two starts.
Trained by Tony McEvoy, the two-year-old colt ran fourth behind Maozi on debut at Geelong before running 1.7 lengths behind the speedy Free Of Debt at Flemington.
Having had that experience is going to be a positive here and he’s paying nice odds to win.
Race 2. (16:30) Le Pine Funerals Maiden (1400m)
#7 – Smiling City @ $2.75 – BET NOW
The three-year-old gelding resumes after spelling in August last year. The Lindsay Park-trained runner ran fourth at Sandown on debut behind Approach Discreet before running fifth behind Derby winner Extra Brut second up.
Derby form should be good enough to take this out and having had both career starts at Sandown will help his chances.
Class should prevail here but watch the betting for any late moves.
Race 4. (17:30) Spicer Thoroughbreds BM70 (1600m)
#5 – Mawaard @ $2.70 – BET NOW
Mawaard produced a much better performance when winning by 3.3 lengths last time out at Sale and we’re expecting more of the same here.
Trained by Lindsay Park, the son of Medaglia D’oro didn’t show much prior at Kilmore but he was always going to improve with more education from this stable.
Has broken through and has the ability to kick on with it now.
Race 5. (18:00) Clanbrooke Racing BM70 (1600m)
#6 – Cincinnati Red @ $3.50 – BET NOW
Backed and beaten her last four races but they have all been solid efforts and she’s good enough to beat a field like this.
The Corstens-trained four-year-old is only a one-time winner from 13 starts but her eight placings shows a good deal of consistency and she just needs to find a half-length to take this out.
She has drawn to get every chance from barrier three and Stephen Baster remains in the saddle after finishing second on this track last time out.
Race 7. (19:00) Highways Lunar New Year BM70 (1300m)
#4 – Gold Mag to win – BET NOW
Beaten last time out at Sandown but that came behind Tin Hat and that form has stacked up nicely this autumn.
The Savabeel gelding won his first two starts by a combined margin of 9.8 lengths and there was some hype surrounding those efforts. He hasn’t won since but he hasn’t faced easier fields of late and this will provide some relief.
He should be well-backed in this.
Randwick free tips and form
Race 1. (13:35) The Championships On Sale Maiden (1000m)
#12 – Super Oasis to win – BET NOW
This is a tricky race to sort out and drawing barrier 14 won’t help but Super Oasis looks to have good ability.
The well-bred two-year-old by Exceed And Excel scored a trial win at Warwick Farm leading into this and with some luck in running, she could be hitting the line with authority.
Late betting moves could indicate her chances.
Race 3. (14:50) Events By ATC BM76 (1550m)
#5 – Bring The Magic @ $2.90 – BET NOW
Beaten but not disgraced when running just under a length behind Sure Knee at Canterbury and that form is going to stack up nicely.
The Chris Waller-trained three-year-old had scored narrowly prior to that and it looked as though she could progress through the grades nicely, but punters get another chance to get the benefits of her talent here.
Waller has three in this race and it will be interesting to see which runner gets backed late.
Race 5. (16:05) Summer Racing BM70 (1800m)
#1 – Rapido Chaparro @ $5 – BET NOW
Punters will need to forgive his latest effort when running seventh at Canterbury but he has since scored a convincing trial win.
The son of High Chaparral scored by 2.8 lengths at Randwick and that should have him in good stead for this. His form prior to his defeat last start was winning form at Gosford and Wyong and that stacks up well.
His 6.5-length romp at Wyong should be good enough form for this.
Race 6. (16:45) Bowermans Furniture BM76 (1000m)
#8 – Tchaikovsky @ $3.30 – BET NOW
Yet to really show his best talent but he finds an easier field here and he should be able to show his best form.
The Peter and Paul Snowden-trained colt ran last in the Group 1 Golden Rose last time out and after winning at Gosford in maiden grade, he hasn’t escaped the top grades.
His best form comes at the trials, which can be a negative, but he’s nicely bred and $3.30 is a price worth taking.
