Flemington horse racing tips
Race 1. (12:10) VRC Member Damian Cubela BM70 (1410m)
#4 – Berkeley Square @ $2.60 – Bet @ Bet365
Berkeley Square won at Geelong on debut before finishing just a length behind the winner at Caulfield.
The three-year-old gelding looks to have more ability than most in this field and that’s reflected in betting markets.
The $2.60 should stay firm on race day.
Race 2. (12:45) Villa Paradiso BM84 (1410m)
#3 – Quintello @ $3.70 – Bet @ Bet365
Quintello didn’t show her best at Flemington last start but we’re prepared to give her another chance.
The six-year-old daughter of Intello owns four wins and four placings from 10 starts, including a win over this distance.
Expect a quick bounce-back effort from the favourite.
Race 3. (13:20) VRC Season Premiere BM70 (1100m)
#9 – Grand Pope @ $10 – Bet @ Bet365
Grand Pope has been backed and beaten in three runs this preparation but we’re giving him one more chance.
The five-year-old son of More Than Ready is a past winner at Flemington and any firming of the track brings him right into contention.
Getting Damien Oliver in the saddle is a bonus.
Race 4. (13:55) The Riverside BM78 (2000m)
#3 – Maximus Prime @ $6.50 – Bet @ Bet365
Maximus Prime is a former New Zealand runner who is getting close to breaking through in Australia.
The six-year-old finished third at Sandown before running second at Caulfield and getting 2kg off his back only helps his chances.
He’s a quality type on his day and the odds appeal.
Race 5. (14:35) Aurie’s Star (1200m)
#3 – King of Sparta @ $2.70 – Bet @ Bet365
King of Sparta showed his toughness when winning at Caulfield and the son of I Am Invincible could go back-to-back.
The Snowden-trained gelding won by a narrow margin but it was a top-flight effort and he deserves to rise through the grades.
Barrier three should be fine down the straight and the early betting support is there.
Race 6. (15:15) The Parade Lounge BM84 (1620m)
#6 – Here to Shock @ $3.10 – Bet @ Bet365
Here to Shock capped off consecutive placings with a win at Caulfield and the five-year-old could double down on that effort.
The son of Shocking has yet to fire in three attempts at Flemington but he’s more mature now and he could capitalise.
Having Oliver in the saddle should give him every chance.
Race 7. (15:55) The Rose Room Handicap (2530m)
#4 – Teewaters @ $2.90 – Bet @ Bet365
Teewaters comes off a dominant win at Caulfield by 3.3 lengths and it’s tough to ignore that winning effort.
The four-year-old son of Dundeel is only a two-time winner from 11 starts but he could start stringing wins together now.
54kg on the back makes him a worthwhile bet.
Race 8. (16:30) The Skyline Lounge Handicap (1410m)
#8 – Zoltan @ $6.50 – Bet @ Bet365
The Symon Wilde-trained gelding is getting close to a win after finishing second at Caulfield last time out behind Edison.
Zoltan runs his best races with the sting out of the surface and he’s another runner who appreciates racing with a light weight.
We expect to see him fighting out the finish.
Race 9. (17:05) Jockeys Celebration Day BM84 (1100m)
#10 – Fire @ $2.25 – Bet @ Bet365
Fire showed his ability when winning at Sandown last start by 2.3 lengths and the four-year-old could double down.
The son of Fastnet Rock owns three wins from six starts and he could have won more races with a bit of luck.
We love the odds available in a good race.
