Flemington horse racing tips

Race 1. (12:35) Super Vobis 2YO Handicap (1100m)

#5 – Stupendo @ $4.40 – Bet @ Sportsbet

Stupendo is on debut for Danny O’Brien and the colt has been well-backed to score.

The son of Supido showed ability when winning a jumpout at Werribee earlier this month, which is a good sign.

Craig Williams takes the ride and he should be right around the mark.

Race 2. (13:10) BM70 Handicap (1600m)

#2 – Eluding @ $2.60 – Bet @ Sportsbet

Eluding is shooting for three consecutive wins after scoring at Warrnambool and Sandown last month.

The McEvoy-trained five-year-old owns four wins from nine starts and getting 3kg off his back makes him tough to beat.

$2.60 is a good price and he could firm on race day.

Race 3. (13:45) Fillies & Mares BM78 Handicap (1100m)

#6 – Florescent Star @ $8 – Bet @ Sportsbet

Amy and Ash Yargi line up the four-year-old mare who could get back to her best on Saturday.

The daughter of Zoustar owns two wins at this distance and she hasn’t finished worse than second in two second-up starts.

The statistics read well and $8 is a price well worth taking.

Race 4. (14:20) BM78 Handicap (2500m)

#5 – Seawhatyouthink @ $3.90 – Bet @ Sportsbet

Seawhatyouthink already owns three wins from eight starts and he could add another to his record.

The Williams-trained son of So You Think is lightly tried, but he comes off an impressive effort for third at Ballarat.

Barrier two is ideal and punters get each-way odds to enjoy.

Race 5. (15:00) 3YO BM70 Handicap (1400m)

#3 – Guardian Spirit @ $4.20 – Bet @ Sportsbet

Shooting for three consecutive wins is Guardian Spirit, who scored at Geelong fresh up and followed it up with a win at Sandown.

The three-year-old colt got the job done by a nose last start as the odds-on favourite, so the $4.20 is a value price.

Drawing the inside barrier suits and we’re confident of his chances.

Race 6. (15:40) BM84 Handicap (1400m)

#2 – Lighthouse @ $2.60 – Bet @ Sportsbet

The Maher/Eustace-trained Lighthouse has made light work of the opposition since arriving in Australia from the US.

The son of Mizzen Mast scored fresh up at Kyneton before scoring by a length at Ballarat last start, which came over subsequent winner Frankie Pinot.

2kg comes off his back and we’re surprised he’s not paying shorter odds with bookmakers.

Race 7. (16:20) Kensington Stakes (1000m)

#14 – Capriccio @ $18 – Bet @ Sportsbet

Punters get value odds for Capriccio, who owns two fresh-up wins from three attempts.

The four-year-old daughter of I Am Invincible also owns a win and a placing at Flemington, so running down the straight is ideal.

Carrying 54kg brings her into contention and we’ll happily take the $18 available.

Race 8. (17:00) BM84 Handicap (1800m)

#15 – Mr Cancun @ $12 – Bet @ Sportsbet

Mr Cancun comes off a win at Sandown and he could handle the rise in class. He scored by a nose after picking runs through the field.

It was a nice effort going forward, and although drawing barrier 15 will likely see him drop back again, he has time to gather momentum.

Dropping to 52.5kg helps and the $12 is a fair price.

Race 9. (17:40) BM70 Handicap (1200m)

#8 – Sixbysixtythree @ $4.80 – Bet @ Sportsbet

Sixbysixtythree is unbeaten after three starts and he deserves a chance in the city.

The four-year-old gelding scored by 1.3 lengths at Pakenham last time out and all three wins have come over the 1200m distance.

Drawing barrier 21 isn’t the worst thing down the Flemington straight, so put him on top at the price.
