Flemington horse racing tips

Race 1. (12:40) Tab Trophy BM70 (1400m)

#1 – Luna Cat @ $4.40 – Bet @ Sportsbet

Luna Cat is searching for three consecutive wins after scoring at Bendigo and Moonee Valley.

The three-year-old filly scored by 3.3 lengths last time out and a similar run would see her taking out this contest.

Getting the inside draw is ideal, so put her on top.

Race 2. (13:20) Lexus Holiday BM70 Plate (1200m)

#2 – Squid Game @ $2.60 – Bet @ Sportsbet

Squid Game made an impression when winning on debut at Sandown. He got the better of a subsequent winner, so the form checks out.

The Patrick Payne-trained son of Shooting to Win had plenty in hand and punters have come for him on Saturday.

Take the $2.60 available as it could shorten.

Race 3. (13:55) Schweppervescence BM100 (2600m)

#6 – High Emocean @ $3.50 – Bet @ Sportsbet

The Maher/Eustace-trained mare owns five wins and six placings from 15 starts, which is an outstanding record.

She hasn’t been showing her best recently, but getting back to Melbourne and down the long Flemington straight should help.

2kg comes off her back and she has upside.

Race 4. (14:30) Rubaroc BM70 (1200m)

#6 – Starden Lass @ $7 – Bet @ Sportsbet

Starden Lass is a four-time winner who comes off a second placing at Geelong, which is a good preparation run.

The five-year-old daughter of Denman was only 1.5 lengths behind the winner and dropping in weight with the 3kg claim helps.

Punters get odds worth taking at the $7.

Race 5. (15:05) Myer Giftorium BM70 (1400m)

#12 – Gentleman Roy @ $9 – Bet @ Sportsbet

The Hayes-trained five-year-old comes off a win at Geelong over Starden Lass, which could be a good form guide.

He is a son of So You Think who has yet to race at Flemington, but it’s a track that should suit him perfectly.

Barrier 12 is the only worry, but he could swing wide and hit the line well.

Race 6. (15:40) Kennedy Handicap (1400m)

#1 – Blazejowski @ $4.80 – Bet @ Sportsbet

The Greg Eurell-trained gelding is a nine-time winner and we’re sticking with him until he wins again.

He comes off a fourth at Pakenham behind Defiant Dancer, so that form checks out and he owns three wins at Flemington.

2kg comes off his back and it brings him into contention.

Race 7. (16:20) Furphy Festive Sprint BM84 (1200m)

#5 – It’sourtime @ $3.60 – Bet @ Sportsbet

It’sourtime scored impressively at Flemington last time out and we expect that form to hold up nicely this season.

The four-year-old gelding saw off a talented field by a half-length, and although his preparation has been interrupted since, he has class.

We expect money to come for him throughout the week.

Race 8. (17:00) Lovethehorse Trophy BM84 (1600m)

#9 – High ’n’ Dry @ $3.70 – Bet @ Sportsbet

High ‘n’ Dry owns two placings from three starts this preparation and he’s getting close to a win.

The seven-year-old son of High Chaparral loves the track with a win and a placing, so he should be right around the mark.

Dropping to 52kg makes him tough to handle.

Race 9. (17:40) G.H. Mumm Christmas BM78 (1000m)

#5 – Winsum @ $5.50 – Bet @ Sportsbet

Winsum comes off a tidy effort at Pakenham and with three wins from eight starts, he should be tough to beat.

All three wins have come over this distance and drawing wide down the Flemington straight isn’t a bad thing.

Punters get each-way odds, so put on top.
