Flemington horse racing tips
—
Race 1. (12:20) Furphy Ale BM78 (1600m)
#9 – White Hibiscus @ $3.40 – Bet @ Sportsbet
The Danny O’Brien-trained mare was a touch disappointing last start, but she deserves another chance based on her win prior.
She scored a 2.3-length win at Sandown and followed it up with a fifth at Flemington as the $1.55 favourite. However, she didn’t jump well and that put her behind the eight ball.
$3.40 is a value price in the opening race.
Race 2. (12:55) Talindert Stakes (1100m)
#2 – Gulf of Suez @ $3.80 – Bet @ Sportsbet
Not much went right for Gulf of Suez last time out, and drawing wide down the Flemington straight isn’t a negative.
The two-year-old gelding looked much better prior to that when recording back-to-back victories at Morphettville.
He should rise through the grades and we wouldn’t overlook his chances here.
Race 3. (13:30) Seppelt Wines Plate (1400m)
#9 – Regardsmaree @ $2 – Bet @ Sportsbet
Regardsmaree has been electric this campaign and despite facing a rise in class, he is odds-on to win again.
The four-year-old gelding comes off a dominant win at Caulfield last week when scoring by 3.3 lengths over Mystery Shot.
Carrying 54kg makes him a weighting special, and the $2 odds could shorten.
Race 4. (14:05) World Horse Racing Trophy BM84 (2000m)
#8 – Coolth @ $2.70 – Bet @ Sportsbet
Coolth comes off a superb victory at Flemington and he could go back-to-back with any luck in running.
The four-year-old gelding burst through runners to score by just under a length, and it was a good outing going forward.
He loves this track and he has form around some top-quality runners.
Race 5. (14:45) The Tab Vanity (1400m)
#4 – Zou Dancer @ $3.30 – Bet @ Sportsbet
Zou Dancer comes off two wins from her last three starts, including a 1.8-length victory at Flemington in December.
The well-bred daughter of Zoustar has been primed with a trial at Geelong, and she looks ready to fire for her fresh-up effort.
Her $3.30 odds have remained steady throughout the week, so that bodes well.
Race 6. (15:25) Kennedy Trophy BM84 (1600m)
#10 – Milton Park @ $4.60 – Bet @ Sportsbet
Milton Park brings in winning form after posting four wins from seven starts. The three-year-old gelding scored a win at Flemington fresh up, and it came by 1.8 lengths.
He followed it up with a 1.5-length win at Sandown last time out and we’re expecting that form to stack up well at this level.
Damien Oliver rides and he has drawn ideally in barrier two.
Race 7. (16:05) CS Hayes Stakes (1400m)
#6 – Brando @ $6.50 – Bet @ Sportsbet
Brando is a quality Kiwi runner that comes off a second placing at Group 1 level at Trentham.
The well-bred son of Savabeel owns three wins and two second placings from five starts, so he has plenty to offer in Australia.
He has been given the visitors draw, but Te Akau is firing on all cylinders this season, and Brando could be its latest star.
Race 9. (17:20) Flemington Racing Spectacular BM84 (1200m)
#7 – Zakat @ $4 – Bet @ Sportsbet
Zakat comes off a consistent campaign and he often finds form fresh up. The Cummings-trained gelding owns a win and two placings fresh up, so he should be ready to fire here.
He is a well-bred son of Lonhro that has been prepared with a trial win at Hawkesbury and a recent trial effort at Randwick.
It bodes well for a big run on Saturday and we’re not surprised by the odds.
