It was hard to find a better run than that from Regal Award last start, who scored by 7.8 lengths in BM70 grade.
The three-year-old was a late scratching from the Caulfield Guineas, so he has class, and he could measure up to stakes company.
This is a tough field, but he could have a bright future.

Icarian Dream should be fitter after three runs this preparation, including a tidy fourth at Caulfield last time out.
The Ciaron Maher-trained filly is a two-time winner from seven starts, and it’s only a matter of time before she posts another win.
This could be her time to shine, and she will enjoy having the Flemington straight to wind up.

It was a big return to form for Liberlad last start when finishing fourth behind Rothfire. He is a classy sprinter on his day, and his second-up record consists of four starts for two wins and a placing.
It’s not easy to follow him, as he’s wildly inconsistent, but he’s a confident runner, and running fourth in a tough race is ideal form.
We’re happy to include him in picks at the current odds.

The best form is with Getta Good Feeling, who won well two back at Flemington before placing behind Ole Dancer and Apocalyptic in the Thousand Guineas.
The three-year-old filly was only a length behind the winner, and she faces an easier field on Derby Day, so we expect a return to winning form.
She has a bright future, and rising to 2000m only helps the daughter of So You Think.

We’re giving King Zephyr another chance following a defeat to Zou Sensation, and he could turn that result around.
The five-year-old was given too much to do off a slow tempo, but he found the line well just to finish second. That race should be a good form guide, and dropping to 53kg helps.
Given the weights, he can’t be left out of picks, and he could use the entire Flemington straight to his advantage.

The money was on Generosity on Everest Day, but it didn’t look like he appreciated going that way around.
The former Perth runner is better going left-handed, and she could bounce back from that poor effort with a big win on Derby Day.
We’re not surprised by the odds, as she’s a popular pick most starts, but she could pay loyal punters on Saturday, so stick with her.
