Flemington racing tips

Race 1. (12:25) Tab We’re On BM78 (1200m)

#12 – She’s an Artist @ $2.70

We have She’s an Artist a chance last start and she didn’t enjoy the pressure of leading down the Flemington straight. However, drawing wide could help her.

The four-year-old burst onto the scene with back-to-back wins, and they were mightily impressive. Something close to that run will be good enough.

We expect strong betting moves to come for her.

Stake: 2 Units

Race 2. (12:55) Darley Maribyrnong Trail Stakes (1000m)

#4 – Knightsbridge @ $5.50

Looking to score a good debut win is Knightsbridge, who comes from the powerful Waterhouse/Bott stable, which is good at getting debutants to win.

The son of Farnan comes off a trial win at Randwick, and although he only narrowly won, he wasn’t asked for much.

Barrier two could be sticky, but it depends on how the track is playing.

Stake: 1 Unit

Race 3. (13:30) Super Impose Stakes (1800m)

#4 – Options @ $5.50

Options looked good when winning on debut at Echuca before winning again at Bendigo two back.

The three-year-old colt by Impending then ran third behind two VRC Derby contenders at Flemington, and he went down fighting.

That form bodes well for this race, so we fancy his chances in this race.

Stake: 2.5 Units

Race 4. (14:05) Tab Edward Manifold Stakes (1600m)

#5 – Just a Journey @ $3.70

Form out of Sydney should hold up well at Flemington after winning at Canterbury last time out.

The three-year-old filly by Justify owns three wins and two wins from six starts, and she looks to have plenty of upside.

A betting push could come on race day, so take the opening odds.

Stake: 1.5 Units

Race 5. (14:40) Kirin Ichiban Rose of Kingdom Stakes (1400m)

#1 – Marble Arch @ $7.50

Marble Arch wasn’t too far away behind some nice types at Flemington, and we’re prepared to give her another chance.

The six-year-old mare by Per Incanto owns nine wins from 24 starts, including two wins at Flemington and over the distance.

This race is there for the taking, so we’re happy with the odds.

Stake: 2.5 Units

Race 6. (15:15) Danehill Stakes (1100m)

#4 – Legacy Bound @ $8.00

Legacy Bound is unbeaten after three consecutive wins, including scoring a narrow win against a tough field last time out.

The three-year-old son of Ole Kirk will only be stronger with that run under his belt, and he’s good enough to beat another tough field.

Tentyris will be tough to beat, but being a fitter runner will help.

Stake: 1 Unit

Race 7. (15:50) The Lexus Bart Cummings (2500m)

#2 – Revelare @ $4.40

Revelare owns eight wins from 11 starts, including wins at Caulfield and Flemington this preparation.

He’s a sneaky chance in the Melbourne Cup, especially if he keeps winning, and the Bart Cummings is typically a solid form guide.

He’s unbeaten in three starts at Flemington, so he must be respected.

Stake: 2 Units

Race 8. (16:25) Turnbull Stakes (2000m) – GROUP 1

Read our full Turnbull Stakes preview here – including best bets, trifecta and first four picks!

Race 9. (17:05) Gilgai Stakes (1200m)

#1 – War Machine @ $4.00

Winning form is with War Machine, who scored wins at Caulfield, Doomben, and Eagle Farm before heading out for a deserved spell.

The five-year-old son of Harry Angel is a winner at Group 1 level, so his class will be tough for this field to overcome.

Barrier 17 down the straight is the place to be, so include him in horse racing picks.

Stake: 2 Units

Race 10. (17:40) Paris Lane Stakes (1400m)

#3 – Cafe Millennium @ $6.00

Seeking three consecutive wins is Cafe Millennium, who won at Morphettville and Flemington impressively.

The five-year-old had always shown good promise, and it’s nice seeing him live his full potential in Victoria this year.

The roll could continue Saturday, so include him in picks.

Stake: 1.5 Units
