We have expert betting tips for the cards this Friday at Moonee Valley and Canterbury.
There is plenty of value available with bookmakers at the Friday night meetings and we have our best bets across the cards.
Race 1. (18:15) Front Runner Membership Maiden (1200m)
#5 – Tricology @ $2.20 – Bet @ Sportsbet
The Peter Moody-trained three-year-old finished second on debut at Mornington and he could go one better.
He was only a short margin behind the winner as a $2.60 chance, so we’re not surprised by the betting support on Friday.
Barrier eight could make it tough around The Valley, but he has ability.
Race 3. (19:15) Happy 50th Travis Pitt BM70 (3000m)
#5 – Saving @ $2.70 – Bet @ Sportsbet
Saving was no match for the winner at Sandown last time out, but his win at The Valley prior was terrific.
The six-year-old scored by six lengths over 2500m, so the rise in distance to 3000m shouldn’t pose any problems.
Jamie Kah rides and we’re confident of a bounce-back performance.
Race 6. (20:45) PTA Landscapes BM64 (2040m)
#9 – Poppy Joan @ $3.10 – Bet @ Sportsbet
Poppy Joan is knocking on the door after consecutive third placings and the mare should go close again.
The Maher/Eustace-trained five-year-old comes off a third placing behind some smart types at Warrnambool and that form bodes well.
She knows how to stay and the distance is ideal.
Race 8. (21:45) Xtreme Freight BM64 (1200m)
#14 – Rights of Man @ $3.10 – Bet @ Sportsbet
Rights of Man didn’t lose any admirers when running third at The Valley last start and he could improve on that position.
The four-year-old son of Snitzel owns a win and three placings from six starts, so he has class on his side and another win isn’t far away.
Drawing barrier 14 makes it tough, but he could slingshot them late.
Race 1. (18:00) Precise Fire Maiden (1550m)
#7 – Flying Witness @ $2.60 – Bet @ Sportsbet
Flying Witness finished third at Randwick fresh up and she could improve off that effort.
The Annabel Neasham-trained three-year-old was only 2.3 lengths behind the winner and the betting support is a good sign.
She opened at $2.90, so it could pay to follow the market moves.
Race 2. (18:30) Drinkwise Maiden Handicap (1250m)
#2 – Argentado @ $2.80 – Bet @ Sportsbet
Argentado finished second at Canterbury fresh up and a repeat of that effort takes her close.
The three-year-old filly by Lonhro was 3.3 lengths behind Sneaky Paige, but the heavy track didn’t suit her.
She should appreciate the firming track conditions and we’re expecting a top effort.
Race 5. (20:00) Vinery BM64 (1200m)
#13 – Black on Beauty @ $3.50 – Bet @ Sportsbet
Black on Beauty did the job nicely on debut when scoring by 2.3 lengths, so a repeat could be on the cards.
The three-year-old daughter of Zoustar showed a good turn-of-foot to win and with James McDonald riding, she has been well supported.
We think punters should follow the early money and stick with her.
Race 8. (21:30) The Agency Real Estate BM72 (1550m)
#1 – For Valour @ $3.20 – Bet @ Sportsbet
For Valour wasn’t far away from making it three wins in a row last start, so he could bounce back in style.
The Waterhouse/Bott-trained gelding won at Wyong in fine style two starts ago and she won’t find this level of opposition too tough.
$3.20 is a fair price for a nice type in the making.
