31/12/21 – Friday Horse Racing Tips

We have expert betting tips for the cards this Friday at Moonee Valley and Gosford.

There is plenty of value available with bookmakers at the Friday meetings and we have our best bets across the cards.

All odds are with Sportsbet – our No. 1 rated bookmaker. You can join Sportsbet by clicking HERE.

Moonee Valley

Race 2. (17:45) Front Runner Membership Maiden (1200m)

#2 – Daytona Bay @ $2.80 – Bet @ Sportsbet

Daytona Bay is a well-bred son of American Pharoah and Soubrettes, who was a speedy Kiwi mare.

The Peter Moody-trained runner cost $360,000 and comes off a jumpout win at Pakenham, so the early signs are good.

Barrier three is ideal and we expect a big debut.

Race 4. (18:45) Tote Bar & Dining C1 Handicap (1600m)

#3 – Alverdun @ $6.50 – Bet @ Sportsbet

Alverdun capped off consistent form with a win at Moonee Valley and he could kick on with it.

The Busuttin/Young-trained gelding got the better of The Psychologist, who looks like a nice type on the rise.

We’re surprised by the odds available, so take the $6.50 while it lasts.

Race 6. (19:45) Ladbrokes 55 Second Challenge BM64 (955m)

#3 – Kev’s Girl @ $4.40 – Bet @ Sportsbet

Kev’s Girl scored at The Valley last start and it came against a similar field, so we’re expecting similar results.

The four-year-old mare owns a win and a placing from two starts on the track. She is also a three-time winner at the distance, so the stats read well.

Carrying a big weight isn’t easy but include her in selections.

Race 8. (20:45) Ascend Sales Trophies BM64 (1200m)

#8 – Star Spirit @ $4.80 – Bet @ Sportsbet

Star Spirit started her career with a win at Swan Hill and anything close to that form would be good enough.

The three-year-old filly followed it up with placings at Sandown and Flemington behind some smart types, so she will enjoy the drop in class.

Her most recent effort came behind Zouzarella, so punters should take the $4.80 before it firms on race night.

Gosford

Race 2. (14:00) Greg McFarlane Racing C1 Handicap (1100m)

#1 – Nasturtium @ $1.70 – Bet @ Sportsbet

Nasturtium couldn’t have been more impressive when winning on debut at Hawkesbury.

The four-year-old son of Snitzel was heavily backed into $1.40, so the $1.70 is a fair price considering.

He looks to have a bright future and we wouldn’t be surprised if his odds firmed to around $1.50 on race day.

Race 3. (14:35) Carmen Murname Racing Maiden (1200m)

#2 – Kipsbay @ $2.80 – Bet @ Sportsbet

Chris Waller lines up the improving gelding who exceeded expectations when running second at Canterbury last start.

The son of Capitalist finished close behind the winner as a $13 chance, so he’s at much shorter odds on Friday.

It doesn’t take long for Waller runners to win and Kipsbay has a good shot.

Race 5. (15:50) Gosford It Maiden (1600m)

#2 – Campeao @ $2.70 – Bet @ Sportsbet

Punters have been burned by Campeao since his debut four starts ago, but we’re sticking with the Waller-trained runner.

He finished fourth at Newcastle fresh up and a repeat of that performance should see him right in the thick of the action.

Drawing barrier four is ideal and we expect another tidy effort from the favourite.

Race 8. (17:55) Happy New Year BM64 (1200m)

#12 – Written Doubt @ $5 – Bet @ Sportsbet

Written Doubt scored by 1.8 lengths on debut at Goulburn and she can handle the rise in class.

The Waterhouse/Bott-trained three-year-old rises up in weight, but she should push forward and be tough to run down.

After opening at $6, bookmakers have trimmed her odds. She still represents value, so take what’s available.
