We have expert betting tips for the cards this Friday at Geelong and Muswellbrook.
There is plenty of value available with bookmakers at the Friday meetings and we pick out the best selections.
Race 1. (12:30) Bet365 Odds Drift Protect Maiden (1330m)
#11 – Tern and Go $3.40 – Bet @ Sportsbet
The Patrick Payne-trained two-year-old comes off a trial win at Tatura and it could be a sign of things to come.
She is a daughter of Astern that scored by four lengths and there has been good early betting support, which is another good sign.
The $3.40 is well worth taking.
Race 3. (13:30) Steigen Maiden (1430m)
#11 – Queen of Sass @ $2.10 – Bet @ Sportsbet
Queen of Sass comes off back-to-back second placings and she was only a nose behind the winner at Wangaratta last start.
The three-year-old by Deep Field will need some early luck from barrier 11, but she shouldn’t take long to get off the mark.
Take the $2.10 as it could firm to around $1.80 on Friday.
Race 5. (14:30) Thompson Creek BM64 (1741m)
#7 – Bainbridge @ $2.45 – Bet @ Sportsbet
The Liam Howley-trained five-year-old scored a maiden win at Geelong last start and he wasn’t tested in the 5.5-length victory.
He put pay to the field in similar conditions and the son of Rebel Raider gets the inside draw with an apprentice claimer in the saddle.
His opening odds of $3.30 have been taken and that’s not surprising.
Race 7. (15:30) Viatek BM64 (1330m)
#1 – Copper Fox @ $8 – Bet @ Sportsbet
The former Kiwi runs at value odds and he could cause an upset. He finished second at his only start on the track and he runs best at this distance.
The son of Foxwedge doesn’t have much of a field to beat and punters should welcome the $8 available with bookmakers.
He should exceed expectations on Friday.
Race 9. (16:30) McGrath Real Estate BM64 (1530m)
#1 – Feuermond @ $3.10 – Bet @ Sportsbet
The Lindsay Smith-trained four-year-old started his career with a second placing followed by consecutive wins, so he’s classy.
He didn’t fire at Flemington last time out, but that came against a strong field and he pulled up lame, so he had genuine excuses.
Getting a 2kg claim and dropping in class is ideal, so expect a strong showing.
Race 1. (12:15) Welcome International Punters (1000m)
#1 – Asherla @ $3.70 – Bet @ Sportsbet
The Kris Lees-trained two-year-old scored her maiden win at Kempsey by 1.8 lengths and she’s capable of doubling down on that effort.
She is a daughter of Astern that will appreciate the 1.5kg claim and although her odds have drifted, she should be well-supported on race day.
Race 2. (12:50) Tab Maiden Handicap (1450m)
#1 – Moremi @ $2 – Bet @ Sportsbet
Moremi is nearing a win after posting three placings from four starts and she was only a short margin behind them at Goulburn last start.
She is in good hands and being by Dundeel, she shouldn’t take long to break maiden grades and kick on with it.
The inside draw is ideal and the $2 is a fair quote.
Race 4. (14:05) Horsepower BM66 (1280m)
#6 – Hard Faith @ $4.80 – Bet @ Sportsbet
Hard Faith is a consistent type that has rattled off five consecutive placings this campaign and she could cap it off with a win.
She has yet to finish worse than second in three starts at Muswellbrook and her distance statistics also read well.
Punters need to keep the faith with Hard Faith.
Race 7. (15:55) Aug 1 Bengalla Cup Day C1 (1000m)
#3 – Elusive Babbz @ $3.80 – Bet @ Sportsbet
The three-year-old gelding got the job done at Muswellbrook last start and she looked to have more in store.
He scored by a length as a $1.55 favourite, so punters get value odds and the son of Sacred Falls is drifting in early markets.
We’re happy to take the $3.80 and support could come on race day.
