There is plenty of value available with bookmakers at the Friday meetings and we have our best bets across the cards.
Friday horse racing tips
Race 1. (13:00) Bet365 Odds Protector Maiden (2440m)
#5 – Meiner Legacy @ $1.95 – Bet @ Ladbrokes
Meiner Legacy is getting close to finally breaking through after seven placings from 18 starts and we’re in his camp.
He is a son of Rulership who finished second at Stawell two back before running third at Geelong last time out, which is solid form.
Barrier five helps and he could stay best.
Race 3. (14:00) Comfy Pod Maiden (1125m)
#3 – Chopin @ $4.20 – Bet @ Ladbrokes
Chopin is on debut after winning a Flemington jumpout and punters get each-way odds worth taking.
The James Cummings-trained two-year-old is a half to some talented types and he could start with a bang on Friday.
Punters get $4.20 and that’s an excellent price with Damien Oliver in the saddle.
Race 6. (15:30) Bildgroup BM64 (2440m)
#5 – Catskill Mountain @ $4.40 – Bet @ Ladbrokes
The four-year-old gelding owns two wins and three placings from seven starts and he runs at value odds.
He comes off a third placing at Ballarat by 1.5 lengths, which came against a strong field and he should find this more to his liking.
His opening odds of $5 have firmed into $4.40, so there is confidence in betting markets.
Race 7. (16:00) Walker Safety Services BM64 (1733m)
#10 – Podium @ $5.50 – Bet @ Ladbrokes
Podium scored a win at Newcastle by two lengths and it was a classy way to exit maiden grades.
His effort at Randwick last start wasn’t ideal but he didn’t pull up well and he should be better for the paddock rest.
Having Brett Prebble in the saddle helps and we’re in his camp.
Race 2. (12:45) La Cantina Beach Hotel Maiden (1215m)
#2 – Klinsmann @ $3.60 – Bet @ Ladbrokes
Kris Lees lines up the three-year-old who went well at Muswellbrook last start and that form is strong for this contest.
The three-year-old son of Frosted was only 2.3 lengths behind the winner and getting 2kg off his back only helps his cause.
Barrier 14 doesn’t make it easy but he could push forward and run them into the ground.
Race 4. (14:05) Luxlec Electrical BM58 (1012m)
#2 – Paradise Island @ $2.50 – Bet @ Ladbrokes
Paradise Island broke through for her maiden win at Beaumont last start before being sent for a spell.
The three-year-old filly also owns two second placings from five starts, so she has been around the mark throughout her career.
Getting 3kg off her back brings her right into contention and the early betting signs are good.
Race 5. (14:40) C & R Project Management BM58 (1012m)
#1 – Apache Blue @ $3.80 – Bet @ Ladbrokes
Apache Blue is another Lees-trained runner who showed good form last preparation and could resume with a winning effort.
The four-year-old gelding comes off a trial win at Gosford and only the big weight is against him, but class takes him close.
This level of racing shouldn’t hold him for long.
Race 7. (15:50) Jesse Riley Memorial C1 (2015m)
#5 – Sure Strategy @ $7 – Bet @ Ladbrokes
The four-year-old mare has only one win from 33 starts but she comes off a second placing at Armidale.
She has yet to race at the track and distance, which could see her consistent form turn into winning form on Friday.
1.5kg comes off her back and punters get odds worth taking.
